Traffic stops net charges

On Sept. 20 around 6:10 p.m., two members of the Rainy River District OPP conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Portage Avenue in response to a traffic complaint.

Officers spoke with the driver, and commenced an investigation.

As a result, a 26-year-old Fort Frances man was charged with failure to comply with a recognizance and driving while under suspension.

Three drivers nabbed

On Sept. 12 around 11:50 p.m., a member of the Rainy River OPP conducted a vehicle stop in the Town of Rainy River.

Through conversation with the driver, the officer determined he had alcohol in his body.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Rainy River OPP detachment, where he underwent further testing.

Joint patrol nets charges

On Sept. 1, members of the Rainy River District OPP Marine Unit and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry conducted a joint marine patrol of Rainy Lake near Fort Frances.

Officers checked many vessels and issued warnings under the Canada Shipping Act, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, and Ontario Fishery Regulations.

OPP charge local woman

On Saturday around 7:20 a.m., officers from the Thunder Bay OPP were advised of a vehicle in the ditch on Mabella Road on Highway 11.

Officers attended the scene and upon further investigation, it was revealed the vehicle was stolen from Fort Frances.

A 36-year-old Fort Frances woman was arrested and charged with possession obtained by crime over $5,000.
