Tight 'D'

Muskie Sara Roach (#23) kept a close eye on Kelsey Craven of the Kenora Broncos during Fort High’s 23-20 win in NorWOSSA senior girls’ basketball action here yesterday.

Breaking through

Muskie junior quarterback Tanner Gill Roisin worked for some extra yardage with a pair of Thunder Bay Huskies draped all over him during an exhibition game at Muskie Field on Saturday afternoon. Despite a 47-6 loss, the junior squad showed plenty of promise in their first home game in front of a large crowd of supporters.

On target

Byron Katapaytuk of the Fort Frances Lakers fired a shot through a maze of defenders on Dryden Ice Dogs’ goalie Curtis Barker during SIJHL action here Friday night. The Lakers fell to 1-3 on the season with a 6-3 loss to the visitors.

Brothers know no obstacles

The word “can’t” simply isn’t in the vocabulary for brothers Sandy Stalker and George Walsh.

Stalker and Walsh (both born to the late Norah Walsh) share a common bond: their love for athletics.

But unlike the usual sibling rivalry sports creates in most families, the pair rely on one another for success every step of the way.
