Record 10 homers as AL wins All-Star Game 8-6 in 10 innings

WASHINGTON — A record 10 home runs. A slew of strikeouts.

The all-or-nothing All-Star Game mirrored what baseball has become.

Astros teammates Alex Bregman and George Springer homered on consecutive pitches to begin the 10th inning, and the American League beat the National League 8-6 Tuesday night for its sixth straight win.

German shorthaired pointer CJ wins Westminster dog show

NEW YORK Now appointed America’s top dog CJ, the German shorthaired pointer.

CJ won best in show at the 140th Westminster Kennel Club on Tuesday night, beating a couple of top favourites at a nearly packed Madison Square Garden.

The 3-year-old CJ bested 2,751 other entries in 199 breeds and varieties to win the nation’s most prestigious dog competition.

Still barking, Uno remains most popular Westminster pooch

NEW YORK After all these years, Uno is still No. 1.

More than 2,700 dogs entered in the Westminster Kennel Club show that started Monday, with a couple of clear favourites. Rumor the German shepherd and Charlie the Skye terrier head the pack, and could be picked as the nation’s top pooch.

A borzoi, a shih tzu and bulldog took winning steps, too.
