Trump and Trudeau discuss detained Canadians in China

TORONTO — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Donald Trump have agreed to continue to seek the release of two Canadians detained in China, Trudeau’s office said Monday.

China grabbed the Canadians in apparent retaliation for the arrest of a top Chinese tech executive. Trudeau spoke to Trump in a phone call Monday.

Trudeau declines to meet Trump because of US precondition

TORONTO — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday he offered to go to Washington this week to complete talks on renegotiating the North American Free Trade agreement but that Vice-President Mike Pence called and told him a meeting with the U.S. president would only happen if Trudeau agreed to put a five-year sunset clause into the deal.
