Woman attacked by animal

On Feb. 7 around 7:05 p.m., the Red Lake OPP received a report of an animal attack from staff at the Red Lake Margaret-Cochenour Memorial Hospital in Red Lake.

A 38-year-old female had attended the hospital with wounds to her legs, indicating she had been attacked by a “large black dog-like animal.”

Police name crash victim

On Monday around 2:30 p.m., the Kenora OPP received a report of a three-vehicle collision at the junction of Highway 17 and Highway 596.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, who was the lone occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver was identified as Katherine Pidgursky, 38, of Buchanan, Sask.

Suspect nabbed

During the early-morning hours of today, the Rainy River District OPP responded to a complaint in Fort Frances.

A motor vehicle was entered and items were taken.

Officers arrived within minutes and due to fresh snow, they located and arrested a 38-year-old Couchiching First Nation man, who currently is in custody facing numerous charges.

Local woman charged

In the morning of Feb. 10, members of the Fort Frances OPP responded to a request for service after a local business had been broken into.

An OPP Scenes of Crime Officer attended and gathered physical evidence while members of the Fort Frances OPP followed other investigative leads.

Police charge ATV driver

Officers of the Fort Frances OPP have charged an adult male with impaired driving.

On Feb. 3 around 2:20 p.m., during a routine motorized snowmachine patrol on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club's trails surrounding Fort Frances, officers stopped a 1995 all-terrain vehicle.

Upon speaking with the male driver, officers suspected he had alcohol in his body.
