Three drivers nabbed

On Sept. 12 around 11:50 p.m., a member of the Rainy River OPP conducted a vehicle stop in the Town of Rainy River.

Through conversation with the driver, the officer determined he had alcohol in his body.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Rainy River OPP detachment, where he underwent further testing.

Joint patrol nets charges

On Sept. 1, members of the Rainy River District OPP Marine Unit and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry conducted a joint marine patrol of Rainy Lake near Fort Frances.

Officers checked many vessels and issued warnings under the Canada Shipping Act, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, and Ontario Fishery Regulations.

OPP charge local woman

On Saturday around 7:20 a.m., officers from the Thunder Bay OPP were advised of a vehicle in the ditch on Mabella Road on Highway 11.

Officers attended the scene and upon further investigation, it was revealed the vehicle was stolen from Fort Frances.

A 36-year-old Fort Frances woman was arrested and charged with possession obtained by crime over $5,000.

Teen charged with arson

On Aug. 14 around 7:40 p.m., Sioux Lookout OPP officers were dispatched to a house fire in the area of Cornerstone Lane in Sioux Lookout.

While attending the scene, officers observed the home to be filled with smoke.

The Sioux Lookout Fire Department entered the home and advised that there was clothing on fire and the fire had been put out.

OPP busy on weekend

Members of the Rainy River District OPP were busy responding to 112 calls for service over the Labour Day long weekend.

In addition, members conducted proactive patrols on the district's highways, issuing 48 Provincial Offence Notices in total.

Driver facing charges

Today at 2:10 a.m., officers of the Rainy River District OPP received a complaint of a motor-vehicle collision on the 300 block of Third Street West here.

An investigation revealed the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking a residential structure.
