Muskie golfers fourth in season-opening event

Members of the Muskie golf team tried their best at the NorWOSSA season-opener Friday in Dryden.

Fort High tied for fourth in the team event with the Kenora Broncos with a combined score of 395.

The Muskies were led by Aiden Wielinga (92), Mikel Ward (95), and Gordy Scott (97).

Dawsen Allen carded a 111 to round out the top four scores that made up the team total.

Muskies wallop Hornets

The Muskie football team showed no signs of rust in their first game of the WHSFL season.

Just a week after having to forfeit their opener against the host Churchill Bulldogs due to not having enough players showing up for practice, the black-and-gold were firing on all cylinders Friday afternoon in a 42-0 rout of the host Tec Voc Hornets (0-1).

The Muskie football team's start to the WHSFL season has been delayed.

The black-and-gold had to cancel their season-opener against the Churchill Bulldogs in Winnipeg on Friday after FFHS administrators felt not enough players had received adequate practice time.

Lakers sweep pair of pre-season games

The Fort Frances Lakers got off to a winning start in SIJHL exhibition play by sweeping both games of a home-and-home series against the Minnesota Iron Rangers over the weekend.

The Lakers used a well-balanced attack last night, getting goals from six different players in a 6-2 victory at the Ice For Kids Arena here.

Lakers trade away Buzzi

The Fort Frances Lakers will have a new face in the fold when they open their annual training camp next Thursday (Aug. 30).
