DONALD ROY WILSON

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Donald (Don) Roy Wilson on February 8, 2019.

He was born on September 26, 1952 to the late Cleve and Julia Wilson.

He lived his life on the family farm and was a devoted farmer.

He continued many plants that were started on the family homestead. Don loved his animals and enjoyed stock car racing, hunting and fishing. He could build or fi x almost anything and liked to watch programs and videos on how to build or make things.

He worked at Witherspoons, the local mill, Acklands and Vissers.

TAATABAA GIIZHIGOOK AWASISII OTOOTEMAN (BULL-HEAD CLAN) KELLI (KYE) LEANNE MORRISON

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kelli Leanne Morrison, 29, from Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation.

Kelli was born in Fort Frances, Ont. on July 9, 1989 and passed away on Feb. 2, 2019 in Vancouver, B.C.

Kelli will be deeply missed by her parents, Tammy Morrison, Dianne Kelly and Vincent Kelly Sr.; brothers, Vincent Jr. (Jenny), Clayton Kelly (Bonnie), Quinton Tom, and Isaiah Collins; and sisters, Vanessa Tom (Jamie), Summer Jim, and Kayla Morrison (Steve).

FERN PELLETIER

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Fern Pelletier—beloved husband of Carolyn (née Rinne); devoted father of Simone Gunn (Nathan), Nathan (Beatrice), Mia (Justin), and Aimée (Brian); adoring grandfather to Nicholas, Nadia, Lucas, Madison, Zachary, Mio, Xander, Fernie, and Seia; brother to Réjean and Fernande; and a dear friend to many, near and far.

Fernand Armand Joseph Pelletier was born in 1945 in Montréal, Que. His early life experiences in the seaside villages of the Gaspésie left in him a deep love of, and longing for, the sea.

WILLIAM 'BILL' MOSBECK

William “Bill” Mosbeck of Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances, Ont., and formerly of Emo, Ont., passed away on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 at the age of 81.

Bill was born on Aug. 21, 1937 in Rainy River, Ont. to Milton and Betty Mosbeck.

He was united in marriage to Armine Tompkins on June 19, 1956.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Armine; sons, Tom (Emily) and Chuck (Cathy); grandchildren, Scott (Michelle), Jay (Janene), Dallas (Kari), Eric (Hope), Cody, and Nicollette (Eric); and 12 great-grandchildren.

SAMANTHA DAWN PEARSON

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our fierce warrior, Samantha Dawn Pearson, on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 in Ottawa, Ont.

Sam, as she was known by family and friends, was born on July 14, 1986 in Fort Frances, Ont.

From the moment she arrived in this world, it was clear that Sam was a bright, feisty, and independent soul. As a young child in Mine Centre, she unabashedly strutted through her parents' store, and loved to put her feet in her dad's big boots and stick her hands in his leech-flled bucket when he returned from bait trapping.

RAMONA JEAN SMITH

Ramona Jean Smith, 87, of Barwick, Ont., passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

SAMANTHA DAWN PEARSON

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Samantha Dawn Pearson announces her passing on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 in Ottawa, Ont.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort Frances, Ont.

SAMUEL HARCUS

Samuel Harcus, 97, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.

Sam was born on April 30, 1921 in Drumlithie, Scotland to Samuel and Johan Harcus. The family moved to Canada in 1926.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving overseas with the Canadian Air Force.

He was united in marriage to Josephine Goodman on Nov. 16, 1946. He worked as an electrical engineer before becoming the manager of the Public Utilities Commission in Fort Frances, retiring in 1986.

DIANE ZDEP

It is with great sadness that the family of Diane Zdep (Delaurier) announces her unexpected passing on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at her home in Airdrie, Alta.

Diane was born June 2, 1945 in Fort Frances, Ont.

She was educated in Fort Frances and was married to Bill Zdep in 1963. They moved to Calgary, Alta. in 1968 and after Bill's passing, Diane moved to Airdrie.

She is survived by her son Barry (Linda); daughter, Tracee (Duncan); and grandchildren, Adam and Nicole.

She also is survived by her brother, James.

ROSE MARIE von NIEBELSCHUTZ

It is with great sorrow that the family of Rose Marie von Niebelschutz (née Currat) announces her passing, surrounded by her family, on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

Rose Marie was born on Oct. 26, 1932 in Grandvillard, Switzerland to Henri Augustin Currat and Bernadette Marie Currat (née Grandjean). She was the eldest girl in a family of nine children.

DONALD BEADLE

Donald M. Beadle, of Peterborough, Ont., passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, with his family at his side, on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre at the age of 61.

He was formerly of Moose Jaw, Sask. and Fort Frances, Ont.

ROSE MARIE von NIEBELSCHUTZ

It is with great sadness that the family of Rose Marie von Niebelschutz announces her passing, surrounded by her family, on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Frances, followed by a luncheon in the church hall.

ELEANOR VALERIE KUCHMA

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Eleanor Kuchma, 87, wife of the late Don Kuchma, on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019 at her home, Rainycrest, with family by her side.

Eleanor was born on July 11, 1931 to Prosper and Georgina Davidson of Fort Frances, Ont.

She will be greatly missed by her six children, Diane (Ron) Grabowski, Penny (Garry) Audette, and Kathy (Gilles) Bois, all of Fort Frances, Ont., Wendy (Rod) Woodgate of Devlin, Ont., Richard (Cheryl) Kuchma of Toronto, Ont., and Kevin (Shannon) Kuchma of Emo, Ont.

MARCUS DAVID JAMES HENDERSON (Waabshkaanikwat) (Muskrat Clan)

Marcus David James Henderson, 14, of Mitaanjigamiing First Nation, who was born on Dec. 29, 2003, sadly departed us on Dec. 10, 2018.

He was a Grade 9 student at the Seven Generations Education Institute.

He loved playing video games and hanging out with his little friends in Mitaanjigamiing FN. He was a traditional dancer and liked dancing at local pow-wows. He also had a good sense of humour, enjoyed making people laugh, telling jokes, and being silly. He enjoyed spending time at home with the family.

When he was younger, he also enjoyed swimming.

ELAINE MARTHA WHITE-KIDDLE

It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine Martha Kiddle announces her passing, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019 at the Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances, Ont.

She was born on Aug. 7, 1931 to Ewart and Hazel Wilson in Fort Frances. She lived here all of her life.

Elaine was united in marriage to the late Charles Arthur White and together they raised six children.

PATRISHAH LINKLATER-TOM

It is with deep sorrow that the Linklater/Friday family announce the sudden passing of Patrishah P.J. Little Feather Linklater-Tom (Miskwaanakwad).

Patrishah, or “Tai,” returned to the spirit world, with family by her side, on Friday, Jan. 14, 2019 in Thunder Bay, Ont. at the tender age of 31.

Tai was born on Jan. 8, 1988 in Thunder Bay, Ont. and was from Couchiching First Nation.

AVIS HALVORSEN

With heavy heart we must speak of the passing of Avis Halvorsen (nee Himsl) of Hinton Alta., a wonderful and caring lady with a big heart.

She could be outspoken at times but always was honest in her feelings and always ready with a hug when one was needed. She also was very smart. For more than 60 years, she did the New York Times Crossword in ink. We always said she could have made a fortune on the game show circuit.

She will be sorely missed.

JOAN THEODORA CURRIE-MARCHAND

Joan Theodora Currie-Marchand passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019.

Joan will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James Marchand of Langley, B.C.; daughter, Brenda (Michael) Gibson; grandchildren, Carol Fawcett and Jason Fawcett; and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Emily.

She also is survived by her sisters, Nancy (Len) Noonan, Lorraine (Rod) Cupp, and Yvette Adams; as well as her brothers, Jim (Barb), Fred (Sonny), Ray (Randi), and Joe.

MONICA BESSIE HANZUK

It is with great sorrow that the family of Monica Hanzuk announces her passing, with family by her side, on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

Monica was born on Sept. 3, 1921 in New Malden, England to Walter and Bridget Joyce. She grew up in England.

On Sept. 3, 1939, England and France declared war on Germany and she worked as a plane spotter for the British Army.

DEIDRE GALE STRAIN

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Deidre Strain on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Deidre was born on July 12, 1936 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Ernie and Margaret (Locking) Lichtenstein.

She was united in marriage to Gordon (Bud) Strain on March 5, 1954. Together, they happily raised their four children in the north end.

Eleanor Kuchma, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances.

ELAINE MARTHA KIDDLE

It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine Martha Kiddle announces her passing, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances, Ont.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Fort Frances, with Pastor Marcel Chenier officiating.
