MURRAY LEMUEL CALDWELL

With great sadness we announce the passing of Murray L. Caldwell (Papa), 75, of Fort Frances, Ont., on Monday, May 21, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.

Murray was born on May 12, 1943 in Bristol, N.B. to Murray and Mary Ellen Caldwell.

He was united in marriage to Leona Logue in Bristol on Dec. 23, 1964.

Murray served in the Canadian Navy on the HMCS Bonaventure from 1962-73. After his service, he became an aircraft engineer, working both in Canada and as far away as Bangladesh and India.

PETER WINSTON WILKINS

Peter, who was affectionately known as “Weeds” by many, quietly passed away on the 19th of May, 2018 at 77 years of age with family by his side.

His passions were many and included his devotion to his family, his love for landscaping and woodworking, and the never-ending quest to end weeds and potholes.

Born on Dec. 12, 1940, he starting very young playing in the dirt and it stuck. As a youngster, Peter started working with his father, Edward, at Wilkins Greenhouse in the west end of Fort Frances while his mother Dorothy ran Wilkins China Shop.

JOHN F. ROSSBOROUGH

John Frederick Rossborough, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018 in Baudette, Mn.

He was born in Rainy River, Ont. and was the only child of Frank and Hazel (Dowsett) Rossborough.

John attended Grades K-12 in Rainy River. As a youth, he spent summers on Cyclone Island on Lake of the Woods with his father. His senior year, he was awarded a memorial trophy recognizing his performance and influence as a hockey player and gentlemen who promoted the cause of sportsmanship.

During this time, John skated with the Warroad Lakers and lettered in curling.

DONNA FRANCES MORRISON

It is with great sadness that the family of Donna Morrison announces her passing on Friday, May 25, 2018 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

Donna was born on Feb. 8, 1949 to Jack and Madeline Cargill. She grew up in Fort Frances and lived here all her life.

She worked at tourist camps as a young woman. She loved to be at home, tending to her garden, baking, and cooking. She also enjoyed music and had many great trips to “WeFest.”

It is with great sadness that the family of Donna Morrison announces her passing on Friday, May 25, 2018 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating.

MARJORIE McTAGGART

Marjorie May McTaggart, 91, left us in her sleep in the early morning of Saturday, May 19, 2018 in the peace of the palliative care room at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

Marjorie was born on April 14, 1927 to William and Mae Davidson in Winnipeg, Man., where she lived for most of her school years, except for the short adventure of life in Wabigoon, Ont.

She married her brother's school chum, Gordon McTaggart, on March 21, 1947 and shortly after moved to Fort Frances, which quickly became her home.

JASON TODD OGIER

With great sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of Jason Ogier, 43, of Devlin Ont., on Tuesday May 15, 2018 at his residence.

Jason was born on May 22, 1974 to Ronald and Sandra (Loveday) Ogier.

He worked at varies jobs over the years, including Burts Sawmill in Sioux Narrows, Ont. and his last employment with the Township of La Vallee.

Jason enjoyed fishing, video games, and four-wheeling in his spare time.

CHARLES ('CHUCK') HARRISON

Sadly, the family announces the passing of Charles (“Chuck”) Harrison, 83, a former longtime resident of Barwick, Ont., on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at his residence in Fort Frances, Ont.

A service of celebration and remembrance will be held on Friday May 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Barwick Community Hall.

Interment to follow in the Barwick Cemetery.

MARY DuCHARME

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary DuCharme announces her passing on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances, Ont.

Mary was born on Feb. 13, 1934 in Rennie, Man. to Doinese and Anastasia Shankowsky.

She was united in marriage to Jim DuCharme on Feb. 4, 1956 and they moved to Sioux Lookout, Ont. and then Reddit, Ont. for a short time. In 1960, they came to Fort Frances.

CHRISTOPHER BLAIR RENAUD

It is with great memories and much love that we remember Chris Renaud, who passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1952.

Chris was a well-respected real estate professional, talented bartender, and world traveller, as well as a self-appointed “Second Most Interesting Man in the World.” His sense of humour was evident even in his final days.

MARY BIDDESON

Mary Elizabeth Biddeson passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Emo Health Centre in Emo, Ont.

She was born on Aug. 13, 1927, in Fort Frances, Ont. She was the fourth born of seven children but the first to be born in Canada. Her parents had moved to Canada from Wantage, Berkshire, England in 1924.

Following high school graduation, Mary travelled to North Bay, Ont. for a year of “Normal School” to receive her teaching qualifications. She then agreed to teach in Stratton, Ont. for three years and then in Fort Frances for two years.

PAMELA OLIVER

It is with profound sadness that the children of Pamela Mary Oliver announce her sudden passing, at the age of 91, on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.

Pam was born on June 7, 1926 to the late Fred and Decima Parsons in Clydach, Wales, where she spent her teenage years during World War II serving in the Women's Land Army.

It was here she met the love of her life, Bert Oliver, while he was on leave from the army visiting relatives.

CARL ROGER BOLEN

With heavy hearts, the family is sorry to announce the passing of Carl Roger Bolen at his home in Atikokan, Ont. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.

His favourite country music was playing softly in the background.

Carl was born at home in Shenston Township, Ont. on Nov. 29, 1937. He was the youngest child of Robert and Beatrice (Andrews) Bolen. He was a lucky boy coming from a large family of 12 children, with eight boys and four girls.

The family of Peter Wilkins announces his sudden passing, with family by his side, on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

MARJORIE McTAGGART

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Frances, with Pastor Ken Johnson officiating.

A graveside service directly will follow the funeral service at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.

Mary DuCharme, 84, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances, Ont.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.

WARREN LOVEDAY

With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Warren Loveday, 54, of Emo Ont., on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont.

A graveside service will be held at the Emo Cemetery on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Ken Johnson officiating.

LESLIE EDWARD JENSSON

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leslie Edward Jensson on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home in McInnes Creek, Ont.

Leslie was born in Rainy River, Ont. on Oct. 18, 1937.

He will be greatly missed by his brother, Stanford (Maxine) of Dryden, Ont.; sisters, Grace Pearson of Smithers, B.C. and Judy (Gary) Cwiak of Winnipeg, Man.; and his many nieces and nephews and special cousin, Hugh Jensson.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Stella, and brother, Clarence.

ROBERT ('BOB') DWIGHT JOHNSTON

Sadly, the family announces the passing of Robert (“Bob”) Dwight Johnston on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Rainy River Health Centre in Rainy River, Ont.

Bob was born, attended school, and worked in Thunder Bay, Ont. He worked for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) his whole career, starting as a Surveyors Assistant and finishing as Project Supervisor.

He built roads and airport runways all over Northern Ontario. He was especially proud of supervising the building of Bending Lake Road right from walking the bush to completion.
