AMANDA BOON

Amanda Shirley Boon, 24, passed away in Toronto, Ont. on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017.

She was born on June 2, 1993 in Fort Frances, Ont.

Amanda lived in Stratton, Ont. and later moved to Thunder Bay, Ont., where she completed high school.

She always was very social and creative, and loved both music and the arts, with a passion for fashion design. She later graduated from George Brown College in Toronto with a diploma in Fashion Merchandising.

She currently was employed at a fashion boutique in Toronto, where she lived for the past four years.

JOHN PATRICK CLEMENS

John Patrick Clemens, 59, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 of heart failure after a short stay at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Mn.

John was born on June 22, 1958 in St. Cloud, Mn. to Virginia Rose (Weitzel) and William E. Clemens.

John grew up in St. Cloud, attending Lincoln Elementary, St. Cloud Tech High School, and St. Cloud State University.

JAMES (JIM) FRENETTE

James (Jim) Frenette

announces his passing.

Jim died unexpectedly in his home on Friday

August 11th, 2017. Jim was predeceased by his parents Oni and Anne Frenette, sister Anita ( Jackson), brothers Don, David, Dennis and infant sister Margaret-Anne.

Jim is survived by two daughters, Julie (Tom), and children Ashley (Robyn/Ashton), Shane and Aisline, and Kim ( Jamie) and children Alyssa and Jasmine.

DARYA ANN FEDORCHUK

Darya Ann Fedorchuk passed away at her home in Fort Frances on August 17, 2017.

She was predeceased by her parents William & Vera Fedorchuk and brother-in-law Lynn E. Maurer.

She is survived by her sister Patricia Maurer.

Darya wanted to be a school teacher since she was a young child and she did exactly that. She taught at the Fort Frances High School her entire career.

DENNIS ('ARCHIE') LIVINGSTONE

With heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of Dennis (“Archie”) Livingstone, after a long and courageous battle with illness, on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 with his family by his side.

Archie, as he was known by his many friends, was born to Bertha and Arthur Livingstone on March 2, 1940 in McIrvine, Ont.

He met the love of his life, Shirley “Bugs” Wagner, whom he married on Jan. 21, 1961. They were married for 56 years and had three children together. They lived in Fort Frances, Ont., Dryden, Ont., and International Falls, Mn.

JAMES (JIM) FRENETTE

It is with deep sorrow that the Frenette family announces the unexpected passing of a much-loved brother, James (Jim) Frenette of Fort Frances, Ont.

Jim passed away on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 at home at 905 Smith Ave., where he had lived for many years.

Jim will be missed a lot by a large extended family and many, many friends.

LORI ANN McLEAN

Lori Ann McLean passed away peacefully, surrounded with love, on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

She was born on May 7, 1966 in Edmonton, Alta.

Lori was an amazing woman who fought the good fight throughout her life. She was a warrior in her battle with cancer and had a ferocious will to live.

Lori will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her big blue eyes, her kindness, her generosity, and her honesty. Everyone who met Lori was touched by her in a special way.

KATHERINE LAURIE BROSKI (McLEOD)

An integral part of our family circle is missing; and it will never be the same again. With unparalleled sorrow, we must inform friends and family that Katherine Laurie Broski (McLeod) passed away very suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017.

Kathy was the second daughter of Alex and Ethel Broski, born on Sept. 15, 1960. After having lived most of her life in Atikokan, Ont., she moved to Fort Frances, Ont. in 1997 to be with her soulmate.

MAXINE VICTORIA PERREAULT (MAX) Ishkode-biizikiiwikwe (Standing Buffalo Woman) from the Eagle Clan

Maxine Victoria Perreault (Max), 64, of Couchiching First Nation, was called for an offer you can't refuse. Like a warrior fighting her battle, she died an honoUrable death.

Cancer was her enemy; she battled until the end.

Born March 17, 1953 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. to her mother, Patricia Perreault (Grover), she was raised in her grandmother's home by Florence Morrisseau (Perreault) and grandfather, Gilbert Perreault Sr.

KATHY BROSKI

It is with profound sorrow that the family of Kathy Broski announces her sudden passing on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Riverview United Church in Atikokan, Ont.

MILDRED DYKE

It is with profound sadness that the family of Mildred Pearl Dyke, 70, of Fort Frances, Ont. announce her sudden passing on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 at the La Verendrye General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mildred was born on March 13, 1947, in Fogo Island, Nfld. She spent the first 23 years of her life there, then moved to Mississauga, Ont., where she spent a majority of the years after.

It is with great sorrow that the family of Jonathan Medicine announces his passing on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017 at the La Verendrye General Hospital.

GRACE DARLENE ROY

It is with profound sadness that the family of Grace Roy announces her passing on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017 at Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances, ON.

Grace was born on Sept. 29, 1934 in Devlin, Ontario to Joe and Jessie McCoy. She lived in the Devlin area as a young girl.

She was united in marriage to George Roy on April 21, 1954 and they settled together in Atikokan to raise their family. As the children grew and left the house she took a clerking job at Monty's Jewellery, where she worked for many years before retiring.

JOSEPH LEO BREMAULT

Leo Bremault, 84, of Rainy River, Ontario passed away peacefully at his home Aug. 1, 2017.

A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Council in Rainy River, Ont.

Burial followed at the Catholic cemetery in Pinewood, Ont.

Leo was born Nov. 2, 1932 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Alexandre and Louise Bremault. They lived in Lebret, Sask. for a short period of time before moving to Pinewood where he attended school and worked on the farm.

In his younger years, he also worked in the timber industry.

HARRY MAXTON

The family sadly announces the death of Harry Gavin Maxton, 67, in Windsor, Ont. after a battle with heart disease, cancer, and a stroke.

Surviving are his wife, Marlene; sons, Mike, Gavin, and Jon; grandchildren, Evan, Cassidy, Levi, Zane, Javyn, Makenna, and Owen; and great-grandson, Grayson.

He also is survived by his siblings, Pat, Bob, Andy, Sharon, and Mary; as well as nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and reception will be held Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall on 1034 Oliver Rd., with Shawn Main officiating.

MAIZIE RUSSELL (nee WASYKOWSKI)

With sadness, we announce the passing of Maizie Russell (nee Wasykowski), who passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on the morning of Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Man. at the age of 89.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Nettie Wasykowski; two brothers, John and Bill; and sister, Jean.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Cyril; sister, Nettie Ann (Dennis); children, Barbara (Robert) and Douglas (Wendi); and nine grandchildren, Christina, Benn, Monica, Luke, Jon, Melissa, Kalli, Carter, and Justine.

MAVIS MAUREEN HELSETH

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Mavis Maureen Helseth (Elliott), our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, on Sunday, July 30, 2017, with family by her side, at the Emo Health Centre in Emo, Ont.

Mavis was a remarkable woman, and her story began on April 10, 1928 at the Bungalow on Wood Lane in Gotham, England.

KENNETH HOWARD MOORE

Kenneth Howard Moore passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in Winnipeg, Man.

He is survived by Violet (Petriuk), his beloved wife of 64 years; two daughters, Kathleen (Ray) and Susan; as well as granddaughters, Lindsay, Nichole, and Claire.

He also is survived by his sister, Linda (Bob); and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Beulah; brothers, Lorne and Jack; and nephew, Michael.

Ken was born on May 1, 1932 in Deloraine, Man.

JOHN van den BRAND

Our sadness is mixed with the joy of a wonderful, sometimes hard but always very rich life well-lived.

Our dear father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John van den Brand, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017.

Dad was born on Aug. 3, 1927 in the Netherlands. On May 20, 1952, he married our Mom, Josephine, and together they decided to move to Canada in 1954 to make a better life for their children.

It is with much sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Gwen Anders (nee Carlson) on Sunday, July 23, 2017 in Nanaimo, B.C.

Gwen was predeceased by her husband, Ben, in 2004.

DARREN THOMAS CONNON

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Darren Thomas Connon at the age of 57.

Darren was born on April 15, 1960 in Winnipeg, Man. to Pearline Mae Connon and Thomas Alexander Connon, who predeceased him.

Darren is survived by his sisters, Val Marie Connon, Debbie Connon-Cawston (Rod), and Terri Lalond (Kevin); special nephew, Shawn Connon (Juanita), lovingly referred to as “Mac”; and nieces and nephews, A.J. Wilson (Jordan), Jaimie Lalond (Teia), Ryan Lalond, and Brandon Lalond, all of Kelowna, B.C.

PAUL ELMER JOHNSON

Paul Elmer Johnson, resident of Manitoulin Centennial Manor in Little Current, Ont., passed peacefully early on Monday, July 17, 2017 at the age of 94.

Beloved husband of Pauline (pre-deceased in 2007), proud and loving father of Howard Johnson (Kirsten), Judy Martin (Ned) and Nancy Paul (Steve), and kind and generous grandfather of Oona (Matthew French), Jay (Erika), Grace and April Martin, and Sarah and Paul Johnson (mother, Cathy).

He also was an amazed and devoted great-grandfather of Everett and Jack French, and Aili and Maia Martin.

VALERIE ANNE PIZEY

It is with great sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Valerie Anne Pizey (nee Stalvies), at the age of 79, on Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Rainy River Health Centre in Rainy River, Ont.

Valerie was born on April 12, 1938 in Urmston, U.K.

After graduating from school in London, she married the love of her life, Anthony Pizey. Together they started a family and soon decided to emigrate to Canada to provide a better life for their children.

After 46 years together, Tony passed away on Nov. 1, 2005.

CLIFFORD GAUDRY

The family of Cliff Gaudry is sad to announce that on Saturday, June 10, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer, he was set free of his pain and will be laid to rest in Rainy River, Ont.

Left behind is his wife, Sharon Joseph; son, Sean (Jen) Owen and children, Nolan and Olivia; son, Jay and his daughter, Mia; and his mother, Millie.

He also is survived by his sisters, Sharron Kropp and Diane Greene (Terry); stepdaughter, Shauna; and step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Avery.

He was predeceased by his father, W.G. (Bill) Gaudry and brother-in-law, Royden Kropp.
