Jean Yvonne Galusha-Bragg walked into the arms of Jesus on May 15, 2019. 

Jean was born Aug. 26, 1937 in Roseau, Mn. to loving parents Raymond and Myrtle Dahl Pearson.

She spent her early years growing up on the farm in Roseau before the family moved to International Falls where she graduated from high school in May of 1954.  


Sadly the family announces the sudden passing of Sulo Maki.

Funeral service was held at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior.

Interment will take place in the family plot in Burriss Cemetery.

It is with profound grief that the family of Clayton Bob announces his passing on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Ojibway of Onigaming First Nation.

Clayton was born on March 7, 1977 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Robert Bob and Pauline Big George.

He was an outgoing and friendly person, willing to help out his friends, family and neighbours.

He worked at odd jobs, willing to take on any task. He enjoyed going to pow-wows and drawing eagles.


Francis William Einarson, 91, of International Falls, Minnesota, died Friday, May 10, 2019 at Chris Jensen Rehab Center in Duluth, Mn.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1927 in Middle River, Mn. to parents, James T. and Ellen R. Einarson.

Francis grew up in Middle River and graduated from Middle River High School in 1945.

Francis served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1947.

On April 14, 1951, Francis married Joyce Lucille Napper, and together they had five children, Twila “Pia," Franella "Piper,” Francis James, Tucky, and Thor.


Evelyn Tribe, 79, passed away peacefully in her home on April 30, 2019.

Ev was born in La Vallee, Ontario on Dec. 18, 1940, the youngest of five children to Florence and Clint Teeple.

In her younger years, Ev worked all over northwestern Ontario. One of the highlights of her work life was her time at Campbell's Cabins in Lac La Croix where she had plenty of fun and many adventures. Soon after, she went on to marry the love of her life, Moe Tribe, on Dec. 1, 1961 and later they purchased Tribe's Lunch Bar at the Sapawe Corner where she was well known for her homemade pies.


With great sadness the family announces the passing of Ruth Mclean, 86, from Harris Hill on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 peacefully at the Emo Hospital.

Ruth was born on July 29, 1932 to Sophie (nee Priesentanz) and William Schettler in Tupper Township, Man. She was the fourth of five children, with her siblings being Arnold, Violet, Helen and Walter.

She spent her early years, raised on a farm North of Plumas, Man. She attended the nearby one-room Maitland School until Grade 8.


Francis William Einarson Sr., of International Falls, Mn., died Friday, May 10, 2019 in Duluth, Mn.

Visitation will be at Green Larsen Mortuary on Thursday, May 16 from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Evangelical Covenant Church on Friday, May 17 starting at 11 a.m.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bob Ash on May 6, 2019. Bob was born in Fort Frances on Feb. 6, 1962 to Morris and Patricia Ash.

Bob leaves to mourn his daughter, Leah Ash (Nathan DeGagne) and grandchildren, Sirus and Tobias DeGagne, and Ariel Plante; his mother, Patricia Ash; his sister, Mary Ellen Chapman (Brent); and his brother, Raymond Ash (Cathy).


Jack Dillon, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Atikokan General Hospital surrounded by his immediate family.

Jack was born on October 26, 1930 in St. Boniface, Man. to Andrew and Helen Dillon. The family moved to Verona, Ont. in 1932 where they resided on a family homestead until 1941.

After finishing high school, he attended Teacher's College for one year before becoming an educator in Fort Frances in 1960. He taught at St. Mary's School and then moved to St. Michael's School. He retired as principal in 1988.


It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Angus (nee Busch) announces her passing on May 2, 2019.

Karen was born on July 25, 1964 to Bev and Denis Busch. She was raised in the North End of Fort Frances and took over the Busch family home to make it her own when Bev and Denis moved to Nickel Lake.

After graduating from Fort Frances High School, Karen moved to London, Ont. to study Interior Design at Fanshaw College. Karen returned to Fort Frances a couple years later to work at the family business, Busch's Automotive Machine and Welding. 


Sadly the family of Annie Caroline Webb announces her passing on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances.

Annie was born on Nov. 14, 1931 to James and Madeline Webb on Rainy Lake. She was raised in Fort Frances and worked at La Verendrye Hospital from the age of 15 in the kitchen till her retirement in 1988 as a RNA.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church, the CWL and the Retired Nurses Group.

My mother was a kind, quiet, hardworking lady that never complained.

It is with heavy hearts the family of Kathy announces her peaceful passing, on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, Ont., after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kathy was born on June 6, 1952 in Fort Frances, Ont. to David and Katie Bliss.

Kathy was raised in Mine Centre, enjoying the great outdoors with her four brothers. Kathy attended public school in Mine Centre and completed her education attending Fort Frances High School.


Surrounded by the love of her family, Florence Thelma Ogden (nee Lee) passed away on March 24, 2019. She is now peacefully in the arms of her son and husband. 

Flo was the youngest of 10 children born to Arthur and Mathilda Lee, on Dec. 1, 1941. She grew up on the family homestead at Bears Pass, Ont. She was no stranger to hard work and helped with the family fisheries and guiding business at a young age.


It is with great sadness that the family of Enid Barbara Coran announces her passing on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in Thunder Bay, Ont.

Barb was born on Feb. 20, 1935 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Louis and Elsie Carpenter. She lived in Fort Frances all her life.

She worked as a nanny for George Armstrong for many years. She was an active and longtime member of St. John's Anglican Church.

She was married to Rudolf Coran on April 28, 1984 and settled into her role as wife and homemaker.

It is with great sadness that, with family by her side, we announce the passing of Janice Elaine Perreault of Couchiching First Nation on May 3, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer and complications due to COPD and pneumonia.

She was a tough, strong fighter, the glue to our family, the one we all went to when we needed answers. She was loved by all who knew her.

Janice was born on Oct. 20, 1951 to Stanley and Yvonne Walton in Fort Frances, Ont. She resided in the area where she met the love of her life, Merle Perreault.


Barbara Coran, 84, of Fort Frances, Ont. passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in Thunder Bay, Ont.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church in Fort Frances, Ont.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.

With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Daniel Thomas Onichuk, age 59, of Fort Frances, Ont. He passed away peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, April 28, 2019 with family by his side.

Dan was born in Fort Frances on Nov. 26, 1959 to Thomas Tony and Ann Marie (Hnatiuk) Onichuk. He was raised alongside his three sisters, Toni, Jeanie and Sandy on North Minnie Avenue.


Merle E. McFayden passed away April 27, 2019 at the age of 107.

Merle was a former resident of Fort Frances for many years before moving to Abbotsford/Mission, B.C.

Merle was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; daughter, Colleen; and daughter-in-law, Carolee.

She is survived by her son Garry (Juanita); granddaughter, Linda Tutin; grandson, Michael; and her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Private service will be held at a later date.


It is with profound sorrow that the family of Nicole Annette Ruppenstein announces her passing on Sunday, April 21, 2019 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She was born on July 13, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Camille and Douglas LaFrance. She was raised in Fort Frances graduating from the Fort Frances High School before attending college to work with special needs children.

She worked within the schools in Fort Frances and surrounding areas for several years, her students adored her and she cared for them deeply.

Lorna Jean Bruchkowski will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jennifer (Darrly) Bowman, and Allan (Vivian) Bruchkowski; grandchildren, Steven, Lindsey, Cody, and Shayne; loving partner, Jerry McLaughlin; siblings, Ian Harland, Janet (Dave) Loney, and Hartley (Grace) Harland; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family.

A celebration of her life took place on Tuesday, April 30 at 1 p.m. in the First United Church, 23 Van Horne Ave., Dryden, Ont. with Alice Bloomfield officiating.

A private family interment will take place in the Emo Cemetery at a later date.
