Thelma Beatrice Green, 82, of 20 Poplar Ave., Atikokan, Ont., was taken home to be with her Lord on Friday, Oct. 9, 1998 in Atikokan General Hospital in Atikokan.
Thelma was born July 2, 1916 in Devlin, Ont., where she was raised. On Dec. 2, 1935, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Green, and together they farmed and raised their family in the Devlin area until 1960 when they moved to Atikokan.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church for many years. Thelma enjoyed playing the piano in her church and at home for pleasure and relaxation, watching and feeding the birds in her yard, being in her garden and flower garden, and knitting mittens and socks for winter.
Most of all, she loved to serve the Lord with all her strength and unwavering faith.
Thelma also enjoyed spending time with her friends, and was a good friend to many people. She will be sadly missed by her friends and by her family whom she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Katherine Smith; husband, Walter George “Lloyd” Green (Jan. 19, 1981); sons, Glenn and Mervyn Green; granddaughters, Beverly Boresiuk and Hillary Anderson; brother, Bob Smith; and infant sister, Mabel Smith.
Thelma is survived by her three sons, Dean (Annie) Green of Chetwynd, B.C., David (Gail) Green of Nelson, B.C., and Larry (Candace) Green of Atikokan, Ont.; two daughters, Alverne (Walter) Boresiuk of Fort Frances, Ont., and Laverne (Elmer) Tozer of Atikokan, Ont.; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosella (Allan) Galbraith of Devlin, Ont.; sister-in-law, Ella Jewell of Emo, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 16, 1998 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Atikokan. Pastor Bert Baxter officiated, with interment in Little Falls Cemetery in Atikokan.
Pallbearers were Sid Darrah, Leonard Darrah, Martin Darrah, Dan Baxter, Allan Martyn, and Arlo Jewell.
