The family of Sylvia McLellan would like to announce her passing on Friday, March 22, 2019 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

Sylvia was born on May 21, 1933 in Winnipeg, Man. to Antoine and Sis LaRoque. As a young woman, she worked for the Red Indian Lodge in Sioux Narrows, Ont.

She was married to Ormal McLellan and they settled in Ear Falls, Ont. to raise their two boys. After Ormal's passing, she moved to Fort Frances, working at Gramma's Pizza and The Pizza Connection.

In 1990, she moved to Atikokan, Ont. and it was here that she found companionship with Fred Booth. They had 20 years together before he passed away. After his passing, she returned to Fort Frances to be closer with her family.

Sylvia loved to be outdoors, especially to garden. She enjoyed knitting and shared her creations with all of her family. She also enjoyed Friday night cards with the girls and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was especially fond of her visits with Matt and Cassie and their dogs, Lexi and Jax.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ormal McLellan; partner, Fred Booth; sons, Stan (Terri) and Tim McLellan; and brothers, Ovide (Sharon) and Jerry LaRocque.

Sylvia will greatly missed by her grandchildren, Crystal Mitchell (Jason), Rocky (Korina), Dan McLellan (Shandle), Matthew McLellan, and Casandra McLellan (Morgan); great-grandchildren, Summer, Justin, Kianna, Keisha, Avery, and Carter; stepchildren, Cheryl (Kerry), Sandra, and Jeff (Christine) and their families; and daughter-in-law, Kathy (Arnie) Johnson.

She also is survived by her brothers, Hylas (Esther), Norman (Carol), Roger (Carole), Ed (Sharon), Dan (Fran), and Emery LaRocque; sister, Gloria (Terry) Soderholm; sister-in-law, Bonnie LaRocque; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Fort Frances.

Cremation has taken place and interment will take place in Ear Falls at a later date.

If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
