SIGRID ALICE MOSLEY

Sigrid peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, at LaVerendrye (Riverside) Hospital, Fort Frances, Ont., at the age of 88 years.

Born to Norwegian immigrants, Ole and Guro (Uttigar) Mosley, Sig lived her entire life in the original family home which was purchased in 1920 in Fort Frances. She graduated from Fort Frances High School and over the years, she was employed with Wells Hardware, the Health Unit and retired from the Town of Fort Frances in 1993 as payroll clerk.

Sig was a lifetime active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. She also was a member of the LaVerendrye Hospital Auxiliary. For many years, she was a member of the Rainy Lake Multicultural Association and involved extensively helping co-ordinate the Fort Frances Culturama festivals for which she received a Province of Ontario Volunteer Service Award. She was also a member of the Scandinavian Club and volunteered many years baking for bake-sale fundraisers for the Fort Frances Community Living Association. She enjoyed her occasional casino trips with the girls and lunch and coffee time with her friends.

Although Sig never had her own children, she was very family-oriented and had much love and caring for all her many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Sig was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and culture and was very pleased to share that knowledge with the younger generations of her family. Christmas Eve was a very special time as family gathered at the family home every year to celebrate in the Norwegian tradition. Sig travelled to Norway several times to visit with family.

Sig was predeceased by her parents, her siblings and their spouses Gudrun (Nelson) Green, Jergen (Pheobe) Mosley, Mary (Dick) Collett, and brother Olaf Mosley, nephew John Mosley, great nephew Steven Foley and great niece Krysta Mosley.

Sig is survived by her sister-in-law Patricia Mosley, her many nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1105 Scott St., Fort Frances, Ontario.

Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Fort Frances, at a later date.
