It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Franklin Mainville, 74, on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017.
Ron was born on Sept. 8, 1943 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Dan and Madeline Mainville.
Ron was predeceased by his son, Bobby; granddaughter, Sara Joan; and his parent.
He also was predeceased by his sisters and brothers, Betty, Blanche, Elaine, Louis, and Roger.
Ron is survived by his son, Blake; daughters, Lana, Amanda, and Whitney; and daughter-in-law, Leeann.
He also leaves behind his nine grandchildren, Jillian, Jena, Joleigh, Braydo, Rhettski, Keagan, Nevaeh, Ray Ray, and Gabby.
It was Dad's strength and love for his family that kept him fighting.
Ron also is survived by three brothers, Stewart, Danny, and Lester; sister, Marcella (Marcy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He spent most of his life working in the paper mill in Fort Frances, where he developed many lifelong friendships.
Upon retirement from the mill, he was employed at Sunset Country Ford.
In his younger days, Ron enjoyed playing hockey and fastball. He was well-known for his skills as a first baseman.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
A service will be held Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at Couchiching First Nation, with a luncheon to follow.
Burial will be held at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers will be Kurt Carlson, David Taggart, Sean Taggart, Brad (OJ) Kennett, Shane Guimond, and Gerry (Jake) Hawley.
