(ROB) JAMES FLEMING SINCLAIR

Sadly, in the evening of Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, with his family at his side, our dad, our love, passed away at his home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Rob was born on July 26, 1936 in Smiths Falls, Ont. to the late James and Margaret Sinclair. He attended public school in Smiths Falls and Lakeview Prep school in 1949-52. He then returned to Smiths Falls to complete Grade 12.

One of Rob's favourite childhood memories was travelling every summer by CPR train with his mother and father, who was the engineer, to Grand Manan, N.B.

In 1955, Rob moved to Toronto, Ont. to begin his career with Bell Telephone. In 1957, he was transferred to Fort Frances, Ont., where he met Fran Callahan and they were married four years later.

He accepted a transfer with Bell to Thunder Bay, Ont. in 1966.

Rob and Fran were very involved in curling. Rob was on the board of directors of the Fort William Curling Club for 19 years and president from 1981-82. He also was president of NWOCA for two separate terms and was the NOCA regional director from 2004-10.

Rob was a coach and president of the Westfort T-Ball League.

Rob retired from Bell in 1990 when he was offered the position of superintendent of the Kenora Telephone System. He spent seven years there and returned home to Fort Frances in 1997.

Rob found happiness again in 2007 when he met Judy. They spent the last 10 years travelling, attending national curling events, and being at the cabin.

In 2009, Rob was fortunate to be able to travel to Scotland to represent Canada in the Strathcona Cup curling competition. Here he made many lifelong friends.

Rob was an honourary life member of the Fort Frances Curling Club and enjoyed golfing at Kitchen Creek with friends.

Papa Bear was a true family man. Two of Rob's great loves were his four granddaughters and the cabin at Sieg's Point.

Rob was predeceased by his mother and father, James and Margaret Sinclair; brothers, Ian and Hugh Sinclair; wife, Fran, of 45 years; in-laws, Pearl Morrison, Kathleen Callahan, Joe and Alice Widurski, and Shirley Pelkey; nieces, Allison Armstrong and Heather Sawada; and great-nephew, Nicholas Steele.

Rob is survived by his children, Rob (Shelly), and granddaughters, Jaime and Lauren, and Kathie (Lorne) Jackson and granddaughters, Danielle and Sara.

He also is survived by his cherished partner, Judy Klyne, her two children, Sherri (Pat) and Alana (Brian), and grandchildren; brother, David Sinclair of Peterborough, Ont., David's children, Donald, Ann, David, and Scott and their families; sisters-in-law, Kathie (Mike) Sawada and Mitzi, (Larry) Armstrong; and nieces and nephews, Dr. Michael (Nathalie) Sawada, Raija (Mike) Pearce, Nikki Armstrong, and Shane (Bobbi) Armstrong.

Cremation has taken place and as per Rob's wishes, we will have a celebration of life at the Fort Frances Curling Club on Saturday, Sept, 23, 2017 from 2-4 p.m.

If anyone so wishes, in memoriam donations may be directed to the Fort Frances Curling Club, P.O. Box 27, Fort Frances Ont., P9A 3M5.
