Reuben Oliver Frederick Arason, 70, of International Falls, Mn., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998 at the Hospice Wing at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Mn. due to complications associated with a stroke.
He was born May 6, 1928 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Sig and Alvena (Haak) Arason.
He grew up in Fort Frances but moved to International Falls in 1959, where he had lived since. He served in the Canadian Navy, and worked for the Canadian National Railroad.
He also was part-owner of Arason Auto Body shop for 28 years.
Reuben started working for Einarson’s Flying Service in March, 1987. He loved the Einarson family, and had a wonderful 11 years there, retiring Aug. 1, 1998.
He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ and AM & FM 270 Masonic Lodge, and was a past member of the Birthday Wish Club and a past Border Shrine member.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking, spending time at his cabin in Canada, and also playing cards Friday nights with his wife and friends. He loved his family and friends, and will be missed by many.
Reuben was united in marriage to the former Lucille Brigham on Aug. 11, 1950 at Knox United Church in Fort Frances, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Greg (Vickie) Arason of Lake Zurich, Ill.; two daughters, Pam (Tom) Urban of International Falls, and Kathy Fisher of International Falls; six grandchildren, Rehn, Kari, Jayme, Christine, Michael, and Melissa; and three brothers, Walter (Beulah) Arason of Edmonton, Alta., Lawrence (Darlene) Arason of Andover, Mn., and Gerald (Delores) Arason of International Falls.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 4, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Faith United Church of Christ, with The Rev. Jill Warner officiating. There was no visitation.
