It is with great sadness the family of Randy Morris Gerhard announces his passing on Wednsday, June 14, 2017 in Goshen, Ind. doing what he loved: driving truck.
He was born on May 1, 1960 in Emo, Ont. to Thane and Aurise Gerhard.
In 1997, he married his love and soulmate, Iris Hyatt. Together they raised a blended family of six children.
Randy is survived by his wife, Iris; children, Angela (fiancé, Nate Sorgert), Thane Gerhard, Kevin Petman, Chris Williams (Larissa), Kurt Williams (Jane), and Matt Williams (Caroline); and six beautiful grandchildren, Jordan, Avery, Rosalyn, Eloise, Angus, and Samson.
Randy also is survived by his mother, Aurise; brother, Roger; nieces, Taleah, Crystal, and Kaitlyn; sisters-in-law, Sharon Andrushuk, Chris (Gord) Playter, and Patti (Lance) Halstead; and brother-in-law, Kevin Hyatt (Pam).
He was predeceased by his father, Thane, in 1992; and in-laws, Angus and Ferne Hyatt.
Randy had a rough exterior but a heart of gold. He always was there for his family and friends, whether it was giving the best advice or lending a helping hand.
Family and friends were his world. He loved to tease and always would have a story of his adventures on the road or around the farm.
Randy started his career with trucks following in his father's footsteps. He was an owner/operator for Cardale, driving long haul with his Red Pete while Iris and his dog, Bob, waited at the farm for him.
Randy loved his family, friends, and animals, and would want to be remembered with a laugh and smile.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 22 2017 at 11 a.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
