QUEEN ROMA WHITEFISH

It is with great sadness that the family of Queen Whitefish announces her passing on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.

She was born on July 19, 1937 in Lac La Croix First Nation to George Ottertail Sr. and Elizabeth Labott.

She lived in Lac La Croix First Nation all her life. Queen loved to be outdoors and lived a traditional life.

She loved to keep busy, tending to her house and children, spending time outdoors harvesting with her husband, Clifford.

She loved teaching her grandchildren how to prepare traditional foods.

Queen leaves behind her husband, Clifford; children, Les Whitefish (Adrienne Whiteman), Barry Whitefish, Delbert Whitefish, Stacy Whitefish, Dorothy Whitefish (Curtis Atatise), and Roberta Whitefish; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Albert Ottertail; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Elizabeth; sons, Ken, Norman and Ramsy; great-grandson, Noah; and siblings, George, Bob, Everett, Bessie and Elizabeth.

A traditional service will be held at the Whitefish Family Home in Lac La Croix First Nation starting on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019.

Elder Tommy Johnson will officiate.

The pallbearers will be Queen's family and friends.
