NANCY LOUISE MARTIN

On Nov. 18, 2017, Nancy Louise (Steiner) Martin went Home to be with her Saviour at the age of 58 years and 26 days.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1959 in Orville, Ohio to Carl and Dorothy (Eberly) Steiner.

In May, 1963, she moved with her parents and seven brothers to Barwick, Ont.

At age 11, she gave her heart to the Lord, and with a tender conscience she sought to please Him. At council service, one week before her death, her expression was one of adoration for her Saviour.

On Oct. 23, 1980, she was united in marriage to Carl Edward Martin. God blessed them with 37 years together.

She was a devoted supporter of Carl in the ministry, which often included joyfully being a keeper-at-home when Carl's ministry called him elsewhere.

At the time of her death, she was a faithful member of the Woodside Mennonite Church in Sleeman, Ont. She thoroughly enjoyed fellowship, and many lasting friendships were formed.

Her concern was that others, too, would find and follow the way of the Lord. Her greatest joys were someone's spiritual victories.

Throughout the years, she has been widely known for her interest in others, her hospitality, and her care of children. She left a legacy of unselfish love and service to others, and considered it a privilege to return devoted care to her aged mother.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, life seemed to be normal until Nancy was called from the family by a heart attack, with very little forewarning.

Left to mourn her absence are her beloved husband, Carl; eight sons and five daughters, Nathan (Esther) of St. Thomas, Ont., Stanley (Teresa) of Aylesbury, Sask., Beth (Joel Meck) of Stratton, Ont., Laverne (Lydia) of Stratton, Ont., Pauline (David Nighswander) of Barwick, Ont., Donald (Marilyn) of Stratton, Ont., Cynthia (Jeremy Neuenschwander) of Dalton, Ohio, Laura (Micah Kropf) of Tilley, Alta., Rosella (Jason Elias) of Stuartburn, Man., and Maynard, Chester, Anthony, and Randall, all at home; and 30 living grandchildren (14 girls and 16 boys).

She also is survived by eight brothers and one sister, Dale (Miriam) of Salmon Arm, B.C., Chester (Marilyn) of Hague, Sask., James (Anne) of Stratton, Ont., Gerald (Martha) of North East, Pa., Kenneth (Susan) Thorp of Wisconsin, Harry (Eleanor) of Barwick, Ont., Dennis (Betzy) of Eden, Ont., Donna (Timothy Martin) of Stratton, Ont., and Dwayne of Fort Frances, Ont.; 25 Martin in-laws; nearly 200 nieces and nephews, beside numerous great-nieces and nephews; and many others who have been blessed by her life.

She was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Dorothy, and parents-in-law, Walter and Nancy (Shantz) Martin; one infant granddaughter, Angela; one brother-in-law; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Woodside Mennonite Church in Sleeman.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Barwick Hall.
