DR. WAYNE HERBERT JOSEPH CROSS, DVM

A good man died on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 at the age of 64 years, losing his battle with depression.

Wayne was born on April 7, 1954 in Fort Frances, Ont. His passion for horses since childhood took him to the University of Guelph Veterinary School, where he earned his DVM.

For the past 33 years, he was employed by CFIA as the only district veterinarian for all Northwestern Ontario, covering from the Manitoba border to Sault Ste. Marie to Fort Severn.

DONNA JEAN ROWELL

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, nana, and great-nana, Donna Jean Rowell (nee Scott), on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018.

Donna was born on April 13, 1938 in Miscampbell, Ont. In the 1950s, Donna and her husband, Jack, moved to Atikokan, Ont., then Gilbert Lake, where they built the home they would raise their family in and live for the rest of their lives.

Throughout her life, Donna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, and best can be described as a nurturer of all people and things.

DeLORIS MARION CAMIRAND

DeLoris Camirand, 84, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.

She is survived by her sons, Randy and Todd Scott of Lethbridge, Alta., Wade (Denise) Scott of Toronto, Ont., Raymond (Laurie) Scott, Jerry Scott, and Dan (Tracy) Scott of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughter, Gail (James) Fletcher of Dryden, Ont.; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was an active bowler, member of the Fort Frances Legion Br. # 29, and the Catholic Women's League of Fort Frances.

INGA GUNDRAN BAZYLEWSKI

It is with profound sadness that the family of Inga Bazylewski announces her passing on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

Inga was born on Aug. 6, 1924 in Kirkjubaerjarsokn, Iceland to Eric and Malfridur Johnson.

She was united in marriage to Harry Bazylewski on April 20, 1945. Together they settled down to raise a family. Inga was a dedicated homemaker and did everything she could to make sure her children and their families were looked after.

She also loved to craft and knit.

DON EASTON

Don Easton passed away on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

MARY (ALICE) HOLBORN

Mary (Alice) Holborn passed away peacefully, at the age of 85, on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 in the Atikokan Hospital in Atikokan, Ont.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1933.

Alice is survived by her children, Clifford (Betty) and Diane Clark; and numerous granddaughters, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, William “Bill” Holborn.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service for family and friends will be announced at a later date.

HILDING SWEN RONMARK

Husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend.

Hilding Ronmark passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances, Ont.

Hilding was born on July 26, 1942 to Gertrude and George Ronmark in Fort Frances.

He met the love of his life, Lucy Badiuk, and they were united in marriage on Nov. 25, 1961. They had two children together, Carol and Troy, and they did everything together as a family.

ALMER GODIN

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Almer Godin, 88, of Rainy River, Ont., at his residence on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018.

Almer was born to George and Mary Godin in Rainy River on March 22, 1930.

In his younger years, Almer worked as a guide on Lake of the Woods for various resorts. He then became a lineman for Ontario Hydro and went to work for the Town of Rainy River.

He worked as a lineman and foreman for the Town of Rainy River for 27 years until his retirement in January, 1991.

RENE HUGHES

Rene would like to let you know that his final race here is complete. He left detailed instructions for Pam and the kids for his final lap.

In racing, the checkered flag symbolizes the end of the race. Rene threw those checkered flags on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at his home on Lake Vermilion.

He was brought into the race world on Nov. 18, 1963 in Winnipeg, Man. by the late George “Ab” Smith and the late Irene Elaine Hughes.

WILLIAM (BILL) ALBRIGHT

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Edward Albright on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.

He passed peacefully with the love of his life by his side.

Bill was born on Sept. 18, 1950 to Dana and Doreen (Neddo) Albright in Winnipeg, Man.

Sadly, the family announces the passing of DeLoris Camirand, 84, of Fort Frances, Ont., on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.

Inga Bazylewski, 94, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.

MARGARET (PEGGY) MARY MINIELY

Peggy Miniely, 96, of Rainy River, Ont., passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at the Rainy River Health Centre in Rainy River.

Peggy was born on March 6, 1922 in St. Boniface Man. to Robert and Minnie Leeson. Peggy spent many years working as a registered nurse, mostly in the hospital in Rainy River.

Peggy and Buzz Miniely were united in marriage on July 14, 1949. They were married for 65 years.

Peggy loved crafts, sewing, curling, travelling, and most of all going to their cabin on Lake of the Woods.

MURRAY KENNETH BENINGER SR.

It is with great sadness that the family of Murray Beninger announces his passing on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 at the age of 71.

Murray was born on June 26, 1947 in Rainy River, Ont.

Murray is survived by his wife, Sharlene (Lambert), of almost 50 years on Dec. 6, 2018.

Also surviving is his son, Murray Jr., and grandchildren, Trey, Mya, Paul, and Gage; brothers, Ted (Glenda) and Robert (Marnie); and sister-in-law, Laurie Callan.

WILLIAM (BILL) ALBRIGHT

William (Bill) Albright, 68, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.

A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion (upstairs) at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Doneen Moran of Calgary, Alta.; sons, Jonathan Fryer (Sonya) of Highland Park, Ill. and Ron Fryer (Lorina) of Fort Frances, Ont.; grandchildren, Aidan Bagnall (Kevin), Liam Craig (Kevin), Shanleigh and Kassidy Fryer, and Conor Fryer; and great-grandchildren, Angela, Hannah, Jordan, Amelia, and Skye.

TREVOR ALLAN JOHNSON Ozhaakogiizhigobines (Atik Clan)

It is with profound sorrow that the family of Trevor Allan Johnson announces his passing on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018 at Grassy Lake, Ont.

Trevor was born on Jan. 17, 1985 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Steve Spencer and Susan Johnson.

He grew up in Seine River First Nation, attending school in Mine Centre and then graduating from Fort Frances High School.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing video games, and watching documentaries, and he taught himself to play guitar. He also valued his cultural heritage and followed many of the traditional ways.

MICHAEL JOSEPH ROY

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Joseph Roy on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018.

Mike was born on Oct. 2, 1956 to George and Grace Roy in Fort Frances, Ont.

Mike had many passions in his life and a great sense of humour. He was a man of strong conviction with a tender heart who was a hard worker in both the mining and forestry industries.

He loved living on the edge with his dozer, travelling often for work long distances but his family was never far from his heart.

It is with great sorrow that the family of John P. Rempel announces his peaceful passing after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was received into glory on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 at the age of 64, with his wife and children by his side in the comfort of his home in Stratton, Ont.

LEONARD (LENNY) JAMES ALLEN JR.

It is with great sorrow that the family of Lenny Allen announces his passing, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

Lenny was born on April 4, 1968 to Jim and Charon Allen in Fort Frances. He lived in Fort Frances most of life, working as a heavy equipment mechanic.

ERNEST DWAYNE ('PEANUT') BLACKBURDE

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Ernest Dwayne (“Peanut”) Blackburde. of Rainy River First Nations, on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018 at his residence.

Dwayne was born on July 29, 1960 in Emo, Ont. to John Madden and Melvina Blackburde.

He is survived by his children, Kevin Callaghan (Melissa Labelle), Samantha Blackburde (Patrick Wensley), Chad Blackburde, and Skye Blackburde; and grandchildren, Daniel Blackburde, Payton and Payge Peterson, and Kayden, Brooklyn, and Maddy Callaghan.

JAMES KEEGAN STANLEY LAMB

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loved one, James Keegan Stanley Lamb, at Concordia Place at the age of 87 years.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, William and Laura Lamb; sisters, Laurabelle Hampshire and Alice and her husband, Don; brother, Bill Lamb; eldest son, Earl; nephew, Niel Hampshire; and his uncle, Frank Keegan of Terrytown, N.Y., who served in the First World War and is buried in Arlington Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maxine; sons, Gerald and Jamie; and grandson, Joel Keegan Lamb.

GLENN JOHN COLVIN

It is with sadness that the family of Glenn John Colvin announces that Glenn passed away, after a lengthy battle with dementia, on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances, Ont.

Glenn was born in Fort Frances on Jan. 17, 1927.

Glenn obtained his schooling in Pinewood and Fort Frances and as a young man entered the papermill in Fort Frances, where he worked for 40 years in the cutting room and then later on the paint crew.
