MELANIE RAE NORTON

Melanie Rae Norton of Kamloops, B.C. passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 33 years of age.
Beloved daughter of Wally Norton and Carol (Ken) Churchwell, all of Kamloops.
She also leaves with treasured memories her sister, Wendy (David) Fera of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandparents, Ella Norton of Fort Frances, Ont. and Nickolas Gushulak of Kamloops, B.C.; uncles, Julian (Dianne) Gushulak of Kamloops, B.C. and Larry (Sue) Norton of Fort Frances, Ont.; cousins, David, Vance, Sally, and Chris Gushulak, Scott Truelove, and Ashley and John Norton; special friends, Karole and Ted; and numerous other relatives.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Baba Katherina Gushulak on July 10, 2005 and Walter Norton, Sr.; and uncles, John Norton and David Gushulak.
Melanie was born March 28, 1972 in Fort Frances and moved to Kamloops in 1973 with her parents and sister. She was an athlete and a poet with a strong, vibrant spirit that touched so many people.
She battled her illness for 13 years with grace and dignity.
We are grateful to have had her in our lives for as long as we did. She was an amazing woman and a loyal and loving daughter, sister, niece, and granddaughter.
She touched many lives with her love, kindness, and sense of humour. She will be lovingly remembered by all those who truly knew her.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Drs. Mosewich, Newhouse, and Stefanyk, the staff and friends at Westsyde Care, ACU staff, and the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home.
Always remembered with love and respect.
A celebration of Melanie’s life took place Saturday, July 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Dr., with Rev. Ray Parker officiating.
