It is with great sadness that the family of Mary DuCharme announces her passing on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances, Ont.

Mary was born on Feb. 13, 1934 in Rennie, Man. to Doinese and Anastasia Shankowsky.

She was united in marriage to Jim DuCharme on Feb. 4, 1956 and they moved to Sioux Lookout, Ont. and then Reddit, Ont. for a short time. In 1960, they came to Fort Frances.

Mary worked as a RNA for many years. In 1978, she obtained her degree in sociology and worked with the District of Rainy River Social Services until her retirement in 1999.

She was an active member of Knox United Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 Ladies' Auxiliary. She and Jim also spent many happy seasons at the cabin; she loved to paint and spend time in her garden there.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Jim; parents, Doinese and Anastasia; brother, Harry; and in-laws, Maxwell, Diane, Lionel, Barbara, Angus, Elaine, Terry, Lorna, and Stanley.

Mary leaves behind her sons, Christopher and wife, Dee, of Fort Frances, Ont., Douglas and wife, Carol, of Winnipeg, Man., and Gregory and wife, Tammy, of Fort Frances, Ont.; grandchildren, John, Robert (Jennifer), Daniel (Shauna), Justine (William), Dylan, and Michael Lynn (Brian); and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Austin, Kiersten, Peyten, Brayden, and Lincoln.

She also is survived by her sister, Elizabeth (Dennis); sisters-in-law, Ruby and Alice; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Ralph Fluit officiating.

Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date.

The honourary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies' Auxiliary will provide an honour guard and tribute.
