Mary was born on Oct. 3, 1919 to John and Ina Kirzy in Rainy River, Ont.
Her journey, after high school . . . working at “Old Kates” in Emo, Ont., on to Toronto Malton Airport for the department of National Defence, then to Crawford's Camp (Sioux Narrows, Ont.), where she met Lloyd (they shared the exact same birthdate).
They married in 1950 in Thunder Bay, Ont. In 1952, they took over Crawford's Resort on Kakagi (Crow) Lake in Nestor Falls until 1978, at which time the resort was sold and on to retirement.
Mom moved to Thunder Bay in 1996.
Mary was always “game” for an outing, loved a glass of wine (or two), and still enjoyed cooking and entertaining until the last year of her life. She was a remarkable and very kind soul.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd (1979); her parents; all of her siblings and their spouses, Grace Bishop, Eva Burnell, Dorothy Engebretson, Ed Kirzy, and Agnes Drennen; and her special dog, Candy.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Ernie (Jamie), her only granddaughter, seven-year-old Aspen Mary, and step-granddaughter, Hannah, all of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter, Linda (Don) Loveday of Thunder Bay, Ont.; step-daughter, Audrey (Jim) Parres; very special niece, Gail Nowrouzian (Vancouver); and sister-in-law, Evelyn Crawford and family.
Cremation has taken place and she will be interred beside our father, Lloyd, in Fort Frances in 2019.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. at the Travelodge Airlane Hotel, 698 Arthur St. W., in Thunder Bay.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to Caring Hearts Cat Rescue and Sanctuary in Thunder Bay or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
God has you in his arms . . . we have you in our hearts.
