MARY BIDDESON

Mary Elizabeth Biddeson passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Emo Health Centre in Emo, Ont.

She was born on Aug. 13, 1927, in Fort Frances, Ont. She was the fourth born of seven children but the first to be born in Canada. Her parents had moved to Canada from Wantage, Berkshire, England in 1924.

Following high school graduation, Mary travelled to North Bay, Ont. for a year of “Normal School” to receive her teaching qualifications. She then agreed to teach in Stratton, Ont. for three years and then in Fort Frances for two years.

In July of 1952, she married Bruce Biddeson and resided at the Biddeson homestead on River Road for the majority of her life. She happily did some substitute teaching locally before she started having children.

She faithfully attended Bethel Baptist Church, becoming a lifetime member. She was dedicated to supporting those who did overseas and local mission work. She also was involved in children's and women's ministries and sang in the church choir.

As well, she was a faithful Gideon Auxiliary member for nearly 40 years.

She and husband, Bruce, enjoyed travelling, especially to Israel. Also alongside Bruce, she was a dedicated board member for “Save our Station," "Door of Hope,” and the Christian radio station KBHW and the Fort Frances Horticultural Society.

She loved bowling, gardening, cooking/baking, practicing conversational French, playing the piano for her personal enjoyment, and sewing. She especially enjoyed spending time with and taking care of family, including her aging mother-in-law for many years.

Mary will be greatly missed by her children, Beth (Rod) Enns, Nancy (Andrew) Palmer, and Daniel Biddeson; grandchildren, Derek (Ashley) Enns, Allison Enns, Nathan Enns, Jacob Palmer, and Sarah Palmer; and great-grandchild, Aubrey Marie Enns.

She also is survived by her siblings, Violet Fawcett, Ted (Nora) Evans, and Joan (Rick) McCutcheon.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Bruce Biddeson; daughter, Ruth Diane Biddeson; sons, Thomas Biddeson and Joseph Alfred Biddeson; parents, Florence Winifred and John Percy Evans; sister, Connie Pierce (Michael); sister, Renee (Jim) Gartshore; brother, John Evans; sister-in-law, Doreen Evans; brother-in-law, Earl Fawcett; nephew, Michael McCutcheon; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lida Mae and Joseph Biddeson.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. at Green's Funeral Home in Fort Frances.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Frances, with Pastor Ken Johnson officiating.
