Marvin Owen (“Bud”) Edwards passed peacefully from his failing body into the waiting arms of his Saviour on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

Bud was born on Dec. 2, 1943 in Winnipeg, Man. to Ted and Margaret Edwards and raised in Thunder Bay, Ont., meeting his wife, Fay (Rowley), at Lakehead University.

They were married on Dec. 28, 1966.

In 1967, Bud was employed by Cooperators Insurance in Thunder Bay, was transferred to Fort Frances to open an office in the Credit Union building, then transferred to Sault Ste. Marie, where he became the Claims Manager for Northern Ontario.

He moved back to Fort Frances in 1976 to become assistant manager, then manager, of the Fort Frances Credit Union.

He later became joint owner with Dave Barker of The Furniture Market, which he operated until 1992. He then was employed as Director of Housing for Couchiching First Nation.

He later worked as an independent business consultant.

Bud was an active member of many committees and boards working to ensure a better community. These included serving for many years as a director of the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship from its inception, working with the Fun in the Sun Committee, and co-ordinating the Snowbirds air shows.

He also served as a board member of Calvary Tabernacle and pioneered the Faith Housing project.

Bud is survived by his wife, Fay; daughter, Wendy (Chuck) Croker and grandchildren, Brenden and Brittney, of Winnipeg, Man.; son, Glenn (Kendra) and grandchildren Ryelee, Hailey, Evan, Andrew, and Amelia, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; son, Gary (Pam) and grandchildren, Cole, Piper, Berea, Jude, Laud, Creed, Jubilee, Nain, and Wells, of Fort Frances, Ont.; and daughter, Lisa Edwards of Thunder Bay, Ont.

Also surviving are his sister, Lynn Aegard of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and nephews, Chris, James, and John.

Bud was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Margaret.

Friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 from 10-11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.

A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship, with Pastor Marcel Chenier officiating.

The honourary pallbearers will be Doug Cain, Cole Edwards, and Brenden Croker.

In memoriam donations may be made to the New Beginnings Fellowship in support of the “Loaves and Fishes” soup kitchen.
