Lois McCanna (nee Newport) passed away quietly, with family by her side, on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018 at the Bayview Nursing Home in Pointe-Claire, Que.

She fought a lengthy and difficult battle with cancer over the past three years, taking it one day at at a time. It was our motto.

She lived autonomously almost to the end and will be missed by her husband, Barney, of 69 years and son, Mark.

She was born on Sept. 10, 1932.

Mom loved to paint watercolours and shared many of her paintings with friends and family. She painted and sketched wherever she was. Her artwork will warm our hearts for years to come.

Mom also was a very active swimmer and could outlast everyone in the pool.

Many of our fondest memories come from Rainy Lake in Northwestern Ontario. We enjoyed living by the lake for many years. Fishing and boating and enjoying living on Nowhere Island during the summer with good friends.

Everywhere Mom went, she made new friends throughout her life.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Bayview Nursing Home, 27 Lakeshore, Pointe-Claire, Que.
