LINDA BETH MacDONALD

It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Beth MacDonald announces her passing in Ottawa, Ont. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 after a courageous battle following a stem cell transplant.
Linda was born on Friday, May 20, 1949 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Frank and Fern Pochailo, and lived her life in Fort Frances.
She attended commercial business school in Winnipeg, Man. following graduation from the Fort Frances High School and worked as a secretary at the Fort Frances High and Westfort schools.
On May 2, 1975, she married Jim MacDonald and became his partner in love, life, and business at MacDonald Motors Ltd. For 32 years as they built their business, they were two who truly stood as one.
Linda lived life with great style and generosity. Her family and friends were especially important to her and she cherished each moment shared with them.
For many years, she and Jim enjoyed weekends at their lake home at Bears Pass. Linda was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed spending time in her home and yard.
She took pride as a business woman supporting many local causes and charities, both in Fort Frances and International Falls. She participated in many community and business events—all with a radiant smile and great enthusiasm.
She also was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the C.W.L., and the Hospital Auxiliary.
Linda is survived by her husband, Jim, along with her brother, Jim (Lori) Pochailo, and sister, Barbara Kircher.
Also surviving are her nieces, Christina (Chris) Green and Nicole (Matt) Bowering; nephews, Frank (Kristy) Pochailo, James (Kristyn) Asplund, and Ross Kircher; grand-nieces, Cadence, Alice, and Hazel Bowring, and Scarlett Asplund; grand-nephews, Casey, Kyle, and Tyson Green; and special family friend, Donna Lowey.
Linda was a very caring person and will be greatly missed by all.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Fern Pochailo; sister, Janet Asplund; brother-in-law, Greg Asplund; niece, Lauren Asplund; and father-in-law, Bill MacDonald, and mother-in-law, Vivian MacDonald.
Funeral mass will be held Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Victor De Gagné officiating.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 7-8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Vigil prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m.
The pallbearers will be Ross Kircher, James Asplund, Frank Pochalio, Bob Pochailo, Bill Pochailo, and Chris Green.
The honourary pallbearers will be Joe and Joan Bolzan, Bill and Peggy Johnson, Lawrence Eustace, Larry Phillips, Norma Carter, Lolly Brunetta, Donna Lowey, and Verna Roy.
