It is with heavy hearts the family of Kathy announces her peaceful passing, on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, Ont., after a courageous battle with cancer.
Kathy was born on June 6, 1952 in Fort Frances, Ont. to David and Katie Bliss.
Kathy was raised in Mine Centre, enjoying the great outdoors with her four brothers. Kathy attended public school in Mine Centre and completed her education attending Fort Frances High School.
Kathy enjoyed life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting and caring for her clients at Pinecrest. She was extremely close to her co-worker Jan Robertson, and sharing stories with the morning “coffee group.”
She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Kathy looked forward to the annual trip spending time with family and friends fishing on Turtle Lake (at her brothers camp) and drinking a cold “Bud Lite." She had a great admiration and loved to tinker with slot machines, trying to find the "lucky” machine at the casino.
Finishing her working career, Kathy took pride and pleasure in dealing with her clients through the Home Support Program, looking forward to each visit and stories shared.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Bob Ralko; her children, Jamie McDonald (Kim), and Rob Ralko (Kelly); her grandchildren, Jasmin, Alyssa (Matt), Christina (Bradley), Julia (Brad), Ashley and Jessica (Cory); as well as her great-grandchildren, Lily, Aria, Molly, Payton and Carter.
Kathy is also survived by her brothers, Tony Bliss (Louise), and their children, Kim-Jo (Clayton) and Shane (Char) and their family; Richard Bliss (Joanne), their children Todd and Tanis (Vaughn) and their family; and Jim Bliss (Linda), his children Brande (Mike), Brittany (James), and their family, and Abraham (Sydney); and sister-in-law Denise Bliss and her children, Shannon (Derek) and their family, and Laureen (Brent) and their family.
She will be greatly missed by her lifetime friends, Marilyn and Stanley McMillan of Thunder Bay, Ont., as well as her best friends, Nancy and Tish.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents David and Katrina Bliss (nee Serediuk) and brother David Jr. (Buster) Bliss.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Kathy's Life will be held at a later date.
If friends so desire, a donation in Kathy's memory would be appreciated by the family to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
