It is with great sadness the family of Kathleen Louise Advent, 95, of Rainy River, Ont., announce her passing at the Rainy River Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019 with her family by her side.
Kay was born January 30, 1924 in Pinewood, Ont., to parents Fanny and Thomas Chandler.
She attended school in Pinewood to Grade 8. She loved school and was an avid learner and was always up on current affairs. She then worked as a housekeeper and nanny for numerous families in the area.
Kay married Joseph Victor Advent on March 17, 1942. She raised 12 children on the farm north of Stratton and resided there until 1976.
In 1991, she moved to Winnipeg and lived with her daughter. In 2004, she moved back to Rainy River and resided with her son and family until her passing.
Her hobbies were reading, gardening, games, crosswords, and puzzles. She was an excellent cook especially known for her apple pies and cherry cheesecake. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1989; her sisters, Peggy, Lillian, Dorothy, Phyllis, and Patsy; and by her son, Frank, in 2015; and grandson, Craig, in 1995.
Kay is survived by sisters, Joyce, Amy and Sandra; and brother, William (Bill); and her children, Robert (Sylvia), Gary (Caroline), Karen, Ross (Monika), Joanne (Yvon), Clarence (Rose), Marilyn (Berne), Grace, Patricia (Robert), Laura and Errol (Becky). She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, 11 a.m. at the Rainy River Evangelical Covenant Church, with Rev. Ralph Fluit officiating.
Private interment will take place in Stratton Cemetery.
