Karl Kaun, age 61 years, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019.
While Karl lived most of his life with partial paralysis, he never let that limit his abilities.
Nothing could keep him from enjoying his favourite fishing holes on Jackfish Lake.
He amazed everyone with his ability to drive his boat with one hand (and sometimes one leg), and drive his snow machine which had the brake and throttle on the same side.
If there was something that posed a challenge, he figured out a way to conquer it. He was definitely an inspiration on how to overcome adversity.
Karl also had a huge heart. He gave unselfishly to his church, his family and those he adopted as his “special family.”
Karl is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; daughter, Kristen; step-daughters, Missy Tate (International Falls) and Raven Lee Carter (Cannon Falls); grandchildren, Ty Trapp, Aliyah George, Oliver and Greta Larson; parents, Ed and Jeanne Kaun; sister, Wendy Brunetta (John); brothers, Calvin (Cindy,) Wayne (Sherry), Les (Pam) and Roy (Michelle); as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; “special family” Barb and Dan Busch, Forrest Scott, Reeanna Mandair, John Scott and Karl George.
Karl was predeceased by his grandparents, Gerhard and Theresa Kaun, and Alcide and Rose Anna DeGagne, and infant grandson, Brenden George.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Lutheran Hour in Fort Frances, Ont. with Pastor Jacob Quast officiating.
Honourary pallbearers will be Ty Trapp, Forrest Scott, Daniel Busch, Roy Kaun, Les Kaun, Wayne Kaun, Calvin Kaun and Karl George.
In memoriam donations may be made to the Church of the Lutheran Hour Memorial Fund, 509 Victoria Ave., Fort Frances, ON.
