With great sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of John Landry, 62, of Fort Frances Ont., on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
John was born on Jan. 16, 1956 to Leo and Thelma Landry and raised in Campbell's Bay, Que.
John drove pulp truck for most of his life. In 2008, he met Karen Helder and began a loving relationship.
He loved spending time with Karen, going for drives, and recently enjoyed gardening and looking after their dog, Sterling. John also enjoyed visiting and talks with his friends, especially Gillie Morin, Roger Lougheed, Jim Strachan, Glen Strachan, Bob Hall, and all of his friends in the Dialysis Unit.
He absolutely loved going to the Emo stock car races and especially loved going into the pits to chat with the racers and to give a hand if needed.
When it got too hard for him to walk around, he found a little trailer to haul his scooter in. Nothing kept him from the races!
He loved watching hockey, especially the Montreal Canadians and his grandchildren play. He also liked his family get-togethers, joking, and telling the tallest tales!
John liked to make people laugh.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Karen; children, Meaghan and Brad Landry; stepchildren, Lindsey (Terry) Martin, Stephanie Selman (Don Olson), and Rebecca Selman (Jeff Wiersma); and grandchildren, Star, Tatum, and Malcolm Martin.
He also is survived by his sisters, Theresa (Fern) Dagenais and Louise Landry, and their families.
John was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Thelma Landry; sisters, Leona and Shirley; and brother, Donald.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont.
If desired, in memoriam donations may be made to Riverside Dialysis Unit in Fort Frances c/o Northridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 89, Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0.
