GLORIA OLIVE GUSTAFSON LONEY

Gloria Olive Gustafson Loney, beloved wife and best friend of Mr. Larry Loney of Medicine Hat, Alta., passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998 at the age of 59.

Gloria also leaves to cherish her memory her children, David of Sherwood Park, and Lisa of Edmonton; her brothers, Rudy (Joan), Raymond (Jackie), and Jim (Barbara); her sisters, Audrey (Clarence) Lefort, and Janice (Robert) Munn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Folke and Laura Gustafson.

Gloria was born in Fort Frances, Ont. on June 18, 1939 and on Sept. 19, 1958, she married Lawrence “Larry” Loney. She attended Business College in Winnipeg and then was employed with the Canadian Pacific Airlines and later part-time for the Hudson Bay Company.

Interior decorating and renovation was an area of interest, which she exercised on the beloved family cottage on Clearwater Lake in Ontario.

As an adult, Gloria had many achievements as a talented musician and singer. She accomplished her grade three in Harmony and History, grade eight in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and was also working towards a voice exam. She had been active in the United Church as a choir member since 1965, and co-ordinator of the Sunday School music program for a number of years.

Other endeavours she experienced was her membership with the Medicine Hat College Choir and leading the Hi C’s for a number of years.

Gloria’s sunny disposition and positive temperament will be remembered by family and friends.

The funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998 at 2 p.m. in the Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church, with Dorothy Naylor officiating.

Cremation took place at the Medicine Hat Crematorium.

The interment will take place Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998 at 3 p.m. at the Emo Cemetery.
