It is with profound sorrow that the family of Frances Boshkaykin announces her passing on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

She lived in Seine River First Nation for many years of her life and taught Anishinaabemowin at Mine Centre Public School for more than 25 years. She often recalled fond memories of her students and enjoyed seeing how much they had grown.
She loved dancing (and shopping) at pow-wows, reading, visiting, puttering around the house, and spoiling her grandbabies. She ensured a full cookie jar for the revolving door of grandbabies.
She will be remembered as a loving Momma, Gramma, and caring friend to all those who met her.
Fran was predeceased by her father, James Blackjack, and brother, Gordon James Boshkaykin.
She leaves behind her partner of 13 years, Stanley Saunders; son, Vincent Colin Boshkaykin; daughter, Carrie L. Boshkaykin; mother, Rosie Boshkaykin; sister, Priscilla Boshkaykin; brother, Jason (Helen) Vugts; and niece, Alex Vugts.
She also will be missed by her beautiful grandchildren, Trent, Mason, and Kera Oshkopkeda, Kirkland Matasawagon, Haylen and Zander Johnson, Brady Bishop, Kayla Boshkaykin, Sasha Kabatay, Lannie Boshkaykin, and Evan Kabatay; as well as numerous extended family members.

Elder George Boshkaykin will officiate at the traditional service on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Seine River First Nation gymnasium.
