ESTHER HENRIETTA ELIAS

It is with profound sadness that the Elias family announces the loss of Esther Henrietta (Turner) Elias on April 3, 2019 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances with her loving family by her side.

Esther was born Nov. 27, 1928 to William and Anna Turner. Esther married Archie Elias on Sept. 25, 1948.

She was dearly loved and survived by her children, Mary Evans, Bernice (Hector) Gaune, Jean Elias, Alma (Gerry) Stratton, Roy Elias, Jim (Connie) Elias, Susan (Joe) McFayden, Mark (Clara) Elias, and Mike (Angie) Elias; as well as 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings Hazel Elias, Edward (Faye) Turner, Leroy (Janette) Turner and Grace Stang.

When we smell fresh baked bread, it will always bring back memories of Grandma. Her house was always a welcoming meeting place where the coffee was always on.

Grandma always had a meal on the table and everyone was welcome, whether you were a relation, a neighbour or a stranger come friend. Grandma leaves a legacy of generosity that will continue on for generations to come.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Archie (1996); her children, John (Monica) and infant daughter, Margaret, and son-in-law, Orville Evans; her brothers-in-law Earl and Ed Elias and George Stang; and sister-in-law, Lillian Turner.

Funeral services took place on Monday April 8, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton Community Hall, Stratton, Ont. with visitation at 12 p.m. and Pastor Ken Johnson officiating. Luncheon followed at the hall.

Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, North Branch, Ont. at a later date.

Pallbearers were Dwayne Evans, Tony Elias, Brent Elias, Colin Angus, Shawn Leahey and Allan Elias.
