ELSIE CATHERINE DUPUIS

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Elsie Catherine Dupuis, our loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother, on Jan. 22, 2020 at LaVerendrye General Hospital, with her family by her side.

Mom was born in Fort William, Ont. on Jan. 20, 1931 and was the chosen daughter of her parents, Edwin and Catherine Cuthbertson.

Growing up on the Cuthbertson farm in Devlin, before moving to Fort Frances at a young age, Mom was a country girl at heart and often spoke of her family and her time on the farm.

A bottle of ketchup or a bowl of oatmeal would often trigger a story of how her Dad loved ketchup so much, that he would even put ketchup on his oatmeal.

Despite having a visual impairment in later life, Mom was still an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching hockey, baseball and curling. Before that, Mom enjoyed bowling and was in many leagues and MEC tournaments.

Elsie was a dedicated Mother first and foremost. The strongest woman we ever met, Mom was a classic example of a fierce Mama/Grand-Mama Bear when it came to her kids and grandkids. She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them.

She especially loved her role as Grandma. On every occasion, when we were searching for the perfect gift for her, all she ever said that she wanted was to be with her family.

The love she shared with us extended to all of her family. Mom had a fantastic memory that was a marvel to everyone. She easily remembered everyone's birthday, anniversaries, and even the weather for the date, without the aid of any calendar or having it written anywhere, and would call cousins, nieces, nephews and friends to wish them well on their special day.

She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald Dupuis; her parents, Edwin and Catherine Cuthbertson; her brother Fraser Cuthbertson and grandson Scott Schulz.

Mom is survived by “Her three J's”: Joyce (Robert) Schulz, Jacqueline Dupuis Brandli and Jon Dupuis; her grandchildren Kevin, Derek (Dani), Ashley and Victoria; and her great grandchildren Johnathan and Ivan; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

As per Mom's wishes, a private family interment will be held at a later date.

If friends so desire in memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association in care of Green Funeral Home, Box 427, Fort Frances, ON, P9A 3M8.
