ELLI AINA HELLIN TYRVAINEN

Mrs. Elli Aina Hellin Tyrvainen, 76, a resident of 206 Windsor St., Thunder Bay, Ont., passed away at her residence Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002.
Born in Ahtari, Finland, she immigrated to Canada in February, 1952.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Elli enjoyed music, studying history and philosophy, and writing stories and poetry, some of which were published and had won awards in her native Finland.
Elli had a love for life and song, and a wonderful sense of humour, all of which will be sadly missed by all who knew her, especially by her family.
Elli is survived by her seven children, Raimo (Audrey) Tyrvainen, Raija (Neil) Carey, Arvo (Denise) Tyrvainen, Reijo (Jane) Tyrvainen, Liz Krall, Maryann (Kevin) Johnson, and Moni (Mark) Joyce; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews in Finland.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albin, in 1994; and by her parents.
Visitation and funeral services were held Monday, March 4, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court St., Thunder Bay, Ont., with Pastor Jari Lahtinen of Hilldale Lutheran Church officiating.
Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
