ELIZABETH ANN HARRIET 'BETTY' BROWN

On Saturday, July 6, 2019 Elizabeth Ann Harriet “Betty” Brown passed away at her home suddenly and peacefully with her husband by her side.

Betty was born on July 24, 1936 in Sleeman, Ontario to the late Arthur and Elizabeth Armstrong.

She was united in marriage to the love her life Arnold Brown, on June 19, 1959 whom she celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary with this year. After their marriage Arnold and Betty lived in Warroad, MN before settling in Emo for a short time, they left Emo, settling into their life long home in Fort Frances.

Betty worked as a telephone operator at Bell Canada for many years, leaving when the system became automated.

Betty was an avid seamstress and worked for many years with both McTaggarts and Betty's. She often did alterations for family and friends.

Betty was an active member of her community. She was a dedicated member of the Knox United Church and the LaVerendrye Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Royal Purple.

Although Betty had no children of her own she was a beloved aunt and a second Mother to her nieces and nephews. She and Arnold frequently attended school functions, recitals and hockey games; they never missed a family function.

Betty will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 60 years, Arnold; sister Margaret (Rick) Ganyo of Eagan, MN; brothers-in-law Ralph (Mavis), Vaughan (Donna) and Alfred of New Brunswick, Warren (Eleanor) and Wallace (Karen) of Nova Scotia, Melborn (Peggy) of BC and Reg Kaus of Rainy River.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved all as her own.

She is predeceased by her parents Vic and Liz Armstrong; brother Bob and wife Wilma; sister Doreen Kaus; sister-in-law Althea Filmore and brothers-in-law Hughie and Allison Brown.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Fort Frances, Ontario.
