Edwina Jeanne (“Eddie”) Frenette, 91, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday morning, Jan. 20, 2018 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances.
Eddie was born just before the Depression of the 1930s in Manitoba. In 1955, she moved to Fort Frances with her husband, Joe Frenette, and children and spent the next 30 years teaching while raising her four children.
Eddie taught for 34 years at the Rainy River District Roman Catholic School Board, and was a valued member of the St. Mary's Catholic Women's League and the Marguerite D'Youville Grey Nuns Associates.
She also volunteered regularly at the Sister Kennedy Centre, as well as with the La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary and V.A.L.A.
Eddie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Charleen (Jack), Mark (Pauline), Blaine (Margaret), and Robert (Liana); and 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by her siblings, Herman (Flora) Aquin and Orise (Fernand) Legare;and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eddie was predeceased by her husband, Joe; grandson, David Frenette; and siblings, Cecile (Leopold) Regnier, Romeo (Annette) Aquin, Luc (Jenny) Aquin, Lionel (Annette) Aquin, and Blanche (Kelly) Goethals.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Alan Albao as celebrant.
