It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donna Mary Sheppard (nee Haglin) announces her passing on July 7, 2019 at 5:45 p.m. at the Emo Hospital.
She was born on July 15, 1948 in Emo to Birdena and Elmer Haglin. She was the eldest of eight children.
Donna worked as a waitress and bartender at various restaurants and camps in the area. Donna and Dusty met while she was bartending at Larsson’s Camp in Nestor Falls.
Donna and Dusty were united in marriage on Dec. 12, 1970 and were married for 48 blissful years. Together they had two children, Jeannie and Mike.
Donna was a very stern and yet at the same time, the most loving and caring mother. She always put her children’s needs before her own.
Donna always had a green thumb. She loved spending time at the cabin, hunting and fishing.
Donna was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #99, where later in life she could often be found enjoying a game of cards or Bingo. Donna was also a member of the Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Dusty; children Jeannie (Aaron), Mike (Jana); and grandchildren, Jocelyn, Janelle, Jayda, Erika (Brody), Victoria and Jaycee, Porter and Grayson. Her grandchildren were the true joys of her life.
She is also survived by her sisters, Sandy (Randy) and Sadie (Keith); her brothers, Calvin (Donna), Walter and Wade (Irene), Vince (Shirley), and Frank (Diane); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Birdena and Elmer; her mother and father-in-law, Evelyn and Roy; her brothers, Marvin and Dwayne; and stepson, Barry.
At Donna’s request a graveside service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Emo cemetery. Frances Flook will be officiating. A light luncheon will follow at the Emo Legion.
