Donald Oliver Cross, 66, passed away suddenly Saturday, April 18, 1998 in Atikokan, Ont. He was born to Winnifred and Herb Cross on June 30, 1931 in the Barwick Hotel.
Don lived most of his life in the Atikokan area, where he was employed as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was best known for his road building and logging industry work in the Flanders and Atikokan area.
He also was known to enjoy the odd bottle of beer with his friends.
He leaves behind to share their memories his son, Lanny (Kim) Cross and their children, Lyle, Jamie, and Lana; daughter-in-law, Eileen and their children, Paul, Marcia, and Diane; great-granddaughter, Autumn; son, Kevin (Rita) Cross and their children, Jason, Charmaine, and Carla; daughter, Tanis (Doug) Hampshire and their children, Robert and Ryan; brothers, Victor (Mickey) Cross, Bert (Delores) Cross, and Jack Cross; his twin sister, Doris (Gus) Anderson; sister, Florence (Ed) Lampi; sisters-in-law Corrine, Joan, and Jeanette; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Cross; mother, Winnifred (nee Izzard); sons, Raymond and Leslie Allan; and brothers, Arthur, William, and Edward.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 21, 1998 at the Riverview United Church in Atikokan, with Rev. Marilyn Mattson officiating.
Niece Angela Lampi, and granddaughters, Lana and Diane, read the scriptures. Memories were shared by Lanny Cross with a large turnout of family and friends.
