Dennis (Buzz) LaFrance passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Northland Village in Hoyt Lakes, Mn.

Buzz was born in Fort Frances, Ont. on Aug. 1, 1933 to Arthur and Madorra LaFrance.

After high school, he became an American citizen and went to work at the papermill in International Falls, Mn. prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army to serve in the Korean War from 1952-54.

He then moved to Chicago, Ill. to attend Coin Electric, where he studied to be an electrician. He worked at Erie Mining Co. for nine years until 1966. He then joined the Electricians Local 294 and worked construction until his retirement in 1991.

Buzz's passions were hockey and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards, watching TV, and spending time with his family.

He was known for his generosity and witty sense of humour, and was always the first one to offer help when needed.

While attending electrical school, Buzz married his first wife, Gloria (Cullen) LaFrance and enjoyed 41 years of marriage until her passing in 1996.

He then met his current wife, LuCille (Bluhm) LaFrance in 1998. They were married on June 23, 2017.

He is survived by his loving wife, LuCille; daughters, Barbara LaFrance of Minneapolis, Mn. and Cyndee LaFrance (Mitch) of St. Paul, Mn.; grandchildren, Tara (Jim) Erickson of St. Paul, Mn. and Kyle (Charlotte) Garman of New Brighton, Mn.; stepchildren, Doris (Tim) Saarberg of Palo, Mn., Bill (Julie) Bluhm of Biwabik, Mn., Janet (Victor) Ursin of Superior, Wis., Jeannie (Mike) Soyring of Maple, Wis., Barb (Chuck) Johnson of Grand Rapids, Mn., and Tony (June) Bluhm of Hoyt Lakes, Mn.; and step-grandchildren, Gena (Tim) Saarberg-Jorgensen and Isaac Saarberg of Cloquet, Mn., Jake (Sarah) Bluhm of 29 Palms, Calif., Amanda Bluhm of Superior, Wis., Erica (Kyle) Ova of Bismark, N.D., and Rachel Ursin and Miles (Sarah) Ursin of Superior, Wis.; and six great-grandchildren, Cole, James, Lilah, Jonathan, Callie, and Lydia.

He also is survived by his brothers, Guy (Linda) LaFrance of Lexington, Ky. and Pete LaFrance of Hibbing, Mn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria LaFrance; son, Guy LaFrance; parents, Arthur and Madorra LaFrance; step-grandson, Jonah Soyring; sisters, Noella Northcott, Rita Ruelle, Cecile Vavricka, and Claudia Domanski; and brothers, Leo and Daniel LaFrance.

A celebration of life for Buzz will take place on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Aurora, Mn.
