Bob, Delford

Delford (Dalford) Bob, 68, who was born on Dec. 22, 1948 of Ojibways of Onigaming First Nations (Nestor Falls, Ont.), started his journey to the Spirit World on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Delford passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Delford grew up in the Ojibways of Onigaming (Sabaskong) First Nation.
He was predeceased by his father, James; mother, Rosie; brothers, Jerry, Terry, and Clifford; and his Anishinaabee adopted brother, Peter (Tobusonakwut) Kinew.
Delford is survived by his wife of 49 years, Darlene (Dolly) Bob (nee Leonard); daughter, Janet (Neil); son, Delford Jr.; grandsons, Jonathan Bob and Jared Herbert; granddaughters, Janelle and Jaylene Herbert, and Samarah Bob; adopted grandson, Damien Breton; and great-grandsons, Carter Herbert and Zaiden Herbert (Highway Bob).
He also is survived by his brothers, James (Bobo) Bob and Robert; sister, Roseanna Cowley (nee Bob); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Delford was a sports enthusiast, enjoyed golfing, curling, and pool, with hockey as his all-time favourite. He played hockey until he was 68.
Delford also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and did some trapping. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and, most especially, his great-grandchildren.
A traditional wake was held Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 3 p.m. at the Onigaming gymnasium, where a traditional service followed on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 10 a.m., with Elder Harry Windego officiating.
Interment to take place at the Onigaming First Nation Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Robert Copenace Jr. (Little Big Bob), Clayton Kelly, Thomas Copenace Jr., Cecil Copenace, Joe Jack, and (Little) Norman R. Copenace Jr.
The honourary pallbearers were Robert (Kogoosh) Copenace, Vincent (Scoopy) Kelly, Raymond Shebagegit, Tommy Copenace Sr., Patrick (Pot) Copenace, Norman Copenace Jr., and his many cousins, relatives, and friends.
