COLLEEN ELIZABETH ROONEY-DELZOTTO

Mrs. Colleen Elizabeth Rooney, 45, of Thunder Bay, Ont., passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, surrounded by family, friends, and staff, after a long struggle with breast cancer.

Her tenacious spirit was an inspiration to many people over the course of her illness. That same spirit was used in her life as a reporter, a teacher, and with the love of her life, Rebekah, her daughter.

Colleen left a large mark in many peoples’ lives and will be very sadly missed.

She is survived by her husband, David, and daughter, Rebekah DelZotto; mother, Anna Rooney and late husband, Larry; sisters, Pat, Mary Anne, and Tina Rooney, Irene Fredericson of Sault Ste. Marie, and Cathy (Peter) of North Bay; and brothers, Larry and Corrine Rooney of Guelph, and Terry and Patricia Rooney of Fort McMurray, Alta.

She also is survived by three sisters-in-law, Kim (John LePine) and Kristen DelZotto, both of Fort Frances, and Teresa (James Hampton) of Thunder Bay; mother-in-law, Sandra (Robert Wepruk) of Fort Frances and the late Luigi DelZotto; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The funeral mass was celebrated by Father Leno Santi at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Thunder Bay on Jan. 4, 1999.

If friends desire, donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation (Breast Cancer research) would be appreciated.
