CLARENCE LORNE CAUL

Clarence Lorne Caul, 86, of 43 Queen Street, Emo, Ont. passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 1998 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. He was born March 28, 1912 in Cartwright, Man. to the late Rufus and Gertrude Caul.
Clarence moved to the Rainy River District at a young age. He had farmed in the Blackhawk and Devlin area and had worked on the construction of the Kenora highway. He also worked for C.D. Strachan until his retirement in 1976 and he loved horses. He was a devoted husband and father, and loved and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Clarence was united in marriage on Nov. 14, 1935 to the former Ruth Perkins who survives with two daughters, Laura and husband John Branch of Sudbury, Ont. and Ellaine and husband Ron Croswell of Schreiber, Ont.; and three sons, Floyd and wife Edna of Finland, Ont., Bill and wife LaVerne of Blackhawk, Ont., and Wilmer and wife Mary of Mine Centre, Ont. Also surviving are 38 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lena Ho of St. Paul, Mn., Hazel Strachan of Fort Frances, Ont., and Mary Marsh of Waldec, Sask.; four brothers, Milton Caul and family of British Columbia, Wilfred Caul and family of Devlin, Ont., Ray Caul of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Austin Caul and family of Dryden, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rufus and Gertrude, and infant daughter Elsie May Caul in 1939, a son Lorne Morris Caul in 1971, two brothers, Roy and Mervin Caul, and two sisters, Lorna and Myrtle.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home. Reverend Frances Flook officiated with interment in the Devlin Cemetery in Devlin.
Friends visited Tuesday evening at Green Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m.
The pallbearers were his grandsons Kevin Branch, Robert Pacan, Allan Pacan, Allan Caul, Larry Caul, Wayne Caul, Marvin Caul, Wesley Caul, Kelvin Caul, Jim Caul, Sonny Caul, Shannon Caul, and Duane Croswell.
