Cheri Speidel, of Belle Fourche, S.D., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at age 59 after a several months' battle with cancer.
Cheri was born in Belle Fourche, the fourth of four children, on Dec. 4, 1958 to Gottlieb and Rheba Speidel.
The family began dairy farming in Spearfish, S.D. when she was small and moved to Newell, S.D. to continue farming in 1966. Cheri attended school in Newell, participating in band and other activities, until the family moved to Scottsbluff, Neb. her junior year, where she graduated from high school and later Western Nebraska Community College with an LPN certification.
She worked in that profession for many years in the area and later moved to Holyoke, Colo. Cheri then moved with her sons to Fort Frances, Ont. for several years and then returned to Belle Fourche, where she has lived since.
Cheri is survived by three sons, Anthony (Ace) Linne-Speidel (Heather) of Holyoke, Colo., Tyrell Griffith (Allyssa) of Devlin, Ont., and Jay Rains of Holyoke, Colo.; and was grandmother to three granddaughters, Kayenna and Layla Griffith, and Shiloh Linne-Speidel.
Cheri also leaves her sister, Karen (Jerry) Mosier of Lincoln, Neb., and brother, Tim (Paula) Speidel of Belle Fourche, S.D.; sister-in-law, Bonnie Speidel of Torrington, Wyo.; and two nieces and three nephews.
Cheri was predeceased by her parents and older brother, Bill Speidel.
Services will be on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche.
