Chase was born on May 20, 2000 in Fort Frances to Darryl Johnson and Janine Copenace. He was raised in Fort Frances and enjoyed playing hockey and spending time with his siblings.

At the age of 13, he met the love of his life, Summer McNeil; they were inseparable and you rarely saw one without the other. When Chase's family moved to Thunder Bay, Ont., he stayed in Fort Frances to finish school with his friends and became a part of her family.

He also is survived by his guardians, Dawn Jourdain, Darren McNeil and Toby Alleman; grandparents, Carol Copenace, Tom Johnson (Lilia), and Marie Virgil; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to mention.
