It is with great sadness that the family of Calvin Ross Durbin announce his passing.
Surrounded with family by his side, Cal passed unexpectedly and peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at Riverside Health Care in Fort Frances, Ont. at the age of 58.
Born in Fort Frances to Waldo and Loretta on Feb. 3, 1960, Cal was one of eight children.
Cal leaves behind his love and partner of nine years, Vicky Perrault, also of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also left to grieve are his children, Jeremy (Sarah), Nakita, Jacob, Kristine (James), and Ben. Cal had three grandchildren whom he loved to make smile, Julie and Carter and Halle—the light of his life.
He also is survived by his siblings, Valerie, Len (Annie), Susan (Don), Gary (Lori), Tim (Wanda), and Donna (Kirby); and was predeceased by his brother, John.
Cal's many nieces and nephews will be holding on to fond memories.
Employed by Herrem Woodworkers and G.D. Construction, Cal was able to work doing what he loved the most, carpentry.
In his spare time, Cal's passion of woodworking kept him busy. He had a gift that allowed him to transform a raw piece of wood into beautiful pieces of art, effortlessly.
Also keeping Cal busy was his garden.
A service for Cal will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 at 5 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
A reception will follow at the home of Cal and Vicky (911 Smith Ave).
The honourary pallbearers will be Troy McRitchie, Chaz Perrault, Dustin Durbin, Kirby Ewald, Allan Larocque, Don Bodnarchuk, James Marengere, Benjamin Bruyere, Tim Durbin, Len Durbin, and Gary Durbin.
Cal was a cancer survivor of eight years.
If friends and family so wish, in memoriam donations may be made to the Tamarack House in Thunder Bay, Ont.
