Betty McClelland, 95, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1922 in Hanna, Alta. to William and Ansena McClelland, the middle of three children.
The family moved to Rainy River, Ont. while Betty was still young. She lived there with her Mom until they both moved to Rainycrest.
She was one of the longest-living residents at Rainycrest, having moved there just after it opened. Having been there for more than 40 years, it truly was her home.
Both she and her family felt that the staff treated her as one of their own; that they all had become family over the years.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, William and Ansena McClelland; her older brother and sister-in-law, George and Barbara of Tampa, Fla.; her younger brother and sister-in-law, James and Velma of Trail, B.C.; and her cousin, Bernice (Ed) Sandvik, formerly of Rainy River and latterly of Red Deer, Alta.
She is survived by nephews in Florida, as well as a nephew and nieces in B.C. and Alberta.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be held in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Rainycrest Auxiliary, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3T2.
