AURISE ESTHER GERHARD

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing Aurise Esther Gerhard, 89, of Fort Frances, Ont., on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 with her family by her side in La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

Aurise was born in Vassar, Man. to Paul and Cecile Carpenter on Nov. 14, 1928.

She went to school at Arbor Vitae, Ont. She married Thane Gerhard on Nov. 14, 1958.

She worked many tourist camps for a numerous amount of years prior to her marriage.

Aurise was a loving and caring wife, mother, aunt and friend to anyway who she crossed paths with.

She could always bring out a smile and make people laugh.

Aurise loved playing Bingo and always looked forward to TV Bingo on Thursday.

She was a place to stay always when you were in town and loved to entertain company.

She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

Aurise was preceded in death by her husband, Thane, in 1992; her son, Randy, in 2017; her father, Paul, in 1975; and her mother, Cecile in 1982.

She also was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Leo Carpenter, Eugenie Marceau, Arbella Hamel, Andrew Carpenter, Solenge Gill, Pricilla Baisley, Olivine McMillian, and Angela Anderson.

Aurise is survived by her son, Roger, and daughter in-law, Iris (Randy), of Fort Frances, Ont.; her grandchildren, Taleah, Crystal, Kaitlyn, Doug, Brad, Jamie, Angela, Thane, Christopher, Kurt, Matthew and Kevin; and her great-grandchildren, Jordan, and Avery.

She also is survived by sister, Olive Gouliquer (Bob) of Arbor Vitae; brother, Maurice Carpenter (Carol) of Prince George, B.C.; sister, Virginia Hibert (Grant) of Winnipeg, Man.; sister-in-law, Kristine Carpenter, of Emo, Ont.; along with numerous of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo. George Chojko-Bolec officiated.

A luncheon followed at the Emo Legion.

Pallbearers were Taleah, Crystal and Kaitlyn Gerhard, Angela Sogert, Thane Gerhard, and Kevin Petman. Honourary pallbearers were Doug, Brad, and Jamie Wakefield, Jordan Frank, Avery Gerhard, and Christopher, Kurt, and Matthew Williams.
