It is with great sadness that the family of Allan Galbraith, age 74, of Devlin, announce his passing on Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at the La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
He was born on April 1, 1931 in Fort Frances to Richard and Jeanette Galbraith. As a young boy the family moved south of LaVallee. Allan loved the farm life and as a young man he purchased the farm of LaVallee where he resided. As well as farming Allan was one of the local school bus drivers in Devlin, driving for 21 years until retiring. Allan enjoyed spending time outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He has been one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years. On June 30, 1972 he was united in marriage to Rosella Darrah. Allan was a kind and gentle man who was deeply devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Rosella Galbraith; children, Leo Darrah and wife, Nicole of Iberville, Que., Sidney Darrah and wife, JoAnne of Barwick, Velina and husband, Steve Kennett of Burriss, Leonard Darrah and wife, Candis of Oxdrift, Ron Galbraith and wife, Dianne of Winnipeg and Martin Darrah and wife, Twyla of Devlin; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred and wife, Myrle of Kenora, and Melvin of Emo; sister Betty and husband, Arthur Ellman of Fort Frances, as well as a large extended family.
Allan was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Jeanette; brothers, Gordon and Raymond; sister, Margaret Roberts and grandson, Daniel Kennett.
A visitation was held on Friday, May 6, 2005 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home with Mr. Bob Deslauriers officiating.
