Muskie girls’ rink advances

The Muskie girls’ curling rink, skipped by Jenna Enge. finished in first place at 4-0 in the NorWOSSA bonspiel held Tuesday in Dryden, outscoring their opponents 47-8.
The Enge rink now advances to the NWOSSAA playdowns slated March 6-7 at the Fort Frances Curling Club.

The Kenora Broncos earned the second berth to NWOSSAA.
“We definitely expected them to do well,” said head coach Dave Bondett.
“You never bark on a win and the next level is the difficult one,” he added. “The calibre of competition will be increased quite a bit [at NWOSSAA].”
The Muskie boys’ rink, skipped by David Kaun, failed to qualify for NWOSSAA after finishing third in Dryden at 3-2 behind the Rainy River Owls and host Eagles.
The girls’ rink plans to enter a couple of bonspiels between now and NWOSSAA in order to prepare them for the high-calibre of competition.
“We’re going to keep the boys involved by giving the girls some competition,” noted Tom Fry, who coaches the boys’ rink.
